It is my absolute pleasure to share that the 2021 HRPA Board Election has closed and the results are in!

This year our Board Nomination Committee successfully evaluated six excellent candidates standing for Election to HRPA’s Board.  Each candidate presented their professional experience along with their bio or candidate statement to members eligible to vote.  The election closed at 5:00 pm, on March 5, 2021.

I am pleased to share with you that our members have elected Tanya Sinclair as a Board Director.

Tanya Sinclair is the Chief People Officer for Artscape, a social enterprise and not-for-profit in Toronto. She is a collaborative HR leader with a long history of community service, including as a volunteer for the HRPA Peel and Durham chapters.

Tanya will hold a three-year term beginning immediately after the conclusion of the 2021 HRPA Annual Meeting, to be held in May. You can review Tanya’s professional experience below and her candidate statement here.

Tanya Sinclair is an authentic and collaborative leader and mentor with 20 years of human resources expertise combined with a passion for diversity, inclusion, and mental health in the workplace. Prior to her appointment to the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) Board in 2021, Tanya served on the Board for Telecare Distress Centres of Greater Toronto in Brampton and for Taibu Community Health Care Centre in Malvern. Tanya was appointed to the Diversity Advisory Committee for Durham Region Police Service and serves a member of the Program Advisory Committee for the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Program at George Brown College. Through her HR teaching experience at Durham College and Centennial College and her HR work for not-for-profits and public libraries, she has developed a deeper understanding of community needs. A 2020 recipient of the Harry Jerome Award for Leadership from the Black Business & Professional Association and the Distinguished HR Professional Award from HRPA, Tanya also holds a Master of Arts degree and is the founder of the Black HR Professionals of Canada.
