HRPA acknowledges that its Head Office in Toronto is on the traditional territory of many nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. HRPA also acknowledges that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands. HRPA further acknowledges that it
engages with communities across Ontario through its Chapter network and events that are all on the traditional territory of Indigenous peoples and is committed to ongoing acknowledgment and reflection.
We acknowledge that HRPA is early in its reconciliation journey. We are committed to honouring, upholding and uplifting the voices of Indigenous peoples within our communities. A number of resources are compiled on our More than Words webpage, including a guide to land acknowledgments.
