The HRPA is launching a pilot project that offers a streamlined CHRE application and process. While applicants have the option of the traditional application, the new approach reduces the number of competencies about which applicants must submit information from 15 to 6 (one from each of the 6 competency groups created for this pilot project). In addition, the HRPA has streamlined the method by which applicants describe their senior-level HR experience, moving away from the “STAR” method to the “PAR” method (the PAR method is described in the application and in the examples). Applicants will be assessed out of 3 (instead of 5) for each competency. With the streamlined approach, we have introduced one new requirement: a reference letter from an executive who can confirm at least one of the examples applicants provide. For more information on the pilot project, please review the application. For an additional example of a competency description using the PAR method, please see “Additional Example Using the PAR Approach.”
A panel of the CHRE Review Committee will review each application, and the CHRE designation may be awarded following that review. The panel will use the pilot project evaluation grid to assess pilot project applications. The submission deadline is the last business date of each month. Results are released by email approximately 10 to 14 weeks after the submission deadline.
Designation Requirements
CHRE designations may be awarded after a review of a written application outlining the registrant’s executive-level HR experience by a panel of CHRE designates trained in the designation assessment process.
For guidance on completing the written application, please review the Guide to the Certified Human Resources Executive (CHRE) Designation.
Written Application
Applicants for the CHRE designation need to complete the CHRE Application Form. The assessment of the application will be conducted by the CHRE Review Panel, which will determine whether the applicant has demonstrated the fifteen competencies required for the designation using the traditional application evaluation grid.
The submission deadline is the last business date of each month. Results are released by email approximately 10 to 14 weeks after the submission deadline.
