We’re pleased to announce that the HRPA has released its 2022 exam schedule, for those seeking to achieve their CHRP or CHRL designation.

HRPA designations were created to signal to clients and employers that an individual has the knowledge and expertise they need to excel in the HR profession.

Please note that while the HRPA examination processes and policies remain the same, the ongoing pandemic has forced a change in the number of exam sittings we offer per year.

In 2022, the HRPA will be offering 2 exam sittings per year, rather than 3, for members planning to write any Knowledge or Employment Law Exams. This returns us to the frequency that was in effect before 2017.

We recognize that this new schedule may be disruptive for some candidates who planned to take the Employment Law Exam in January 2022, when it would have been typically scheduled. So, we will be offering a special exam sitting in January 2022 of the CHRP and CHRL Employment Law Exams. Since no significant disruption would occur for candidates of the CHRP and CHRL Knowledge Exams, no special sitting will take place in 2022 for that exam.

From 2023 and onwards, there will only be 2 exam sittings per year for both exams.

Our members have been at the forefront of our thinking as we respond to the pandemic, and it is critical that we continue to set you up for success.

We believe this change will give you more time to prepare for your exam, an important step in attaining your designation. HRPA has also worked with our exam preparatory vendor(s) to extend access to our products to align with the new schedule at no additional cost.

We will continue to provide high-quality exam preparatory resources to support your designation journey. Click here to view our current exam prep resources.

On September 1, we will also be hosting a special webinar titled Preparing to Write the CHRP-KE and CHRL-KE: Advice from the Registrar.

For more information about the new exam schedule, please check out our FAQs below.

The change will come into effect as of January 1, 2022.

But there will be a special sitting of the CHRP & CHRL Employment Law Exams in January 2022, making it a total of 3 exams that year. No special sitting will take place for the CHRP & CHRL Knowledge Exams.

In 2023, the CHRP & CHRL Employment Law Exams will have two exam sittings like the CHRP & CHRL Knowledge Exams.

No, this change has no impact on any other HRPA program ( i.e.  Continuing Professional Development offerings, other HRPA learning opportunities and webinars.)

Individuals will continue to have access to the Captus Press Prep Products.

We have even extended access to our products to align with the new schedule at no additional cost to you.

This means you will get at least 24 weeks of access.

There is no direct impact on the achievement of the designations. There are no changes to the process or coursework requirements.

In fact, the new exam schedule may allow you more time to study for these exams.

(With that being said, please remember that successfully passing an exam still relies on an individual’s knowledge and preparedness.)

HRPA will continue to offer a hybrid model and provide candidates with a choice to either test remotely or in person – as long as the test centres have re-opened.

The format of the exams, the length of the exams will all remain the same. Nothing has been changed. The eligibility also remains the same.

To summarize:

CHRP-KE is 3.5 hours in length to complete 175 questions – 4 -option multiple choice.

CHRL-KE is 5 hours in length to complete 250 questions – 4 option multiple choice.

CHRP and CHRL Employment Law exams – 3.5 hours to complete 110 questions– 3 option multiple choice.
