Volunteering

Volunteering at HRPA is a rewarding membership experience and volunteers are critical to the association’s continued success.

With the expertise and involvement of members, we create awareness of workplace issues, promote excellence in human resources management practices and provide services that support the HR community, knowledge-sharing and continuous professional development.

Jacqueline Cabildo, MBA, CHRP, CHRL

Chapter Chair

Jacqueline Cabildo, aka “Jackie of All Trades” as she has worked in various industries and has worn many different hats both in business and as an active contributor to her community. She joined Allegis Global Solutions 12 years ago where she held different roles with her current role as the Operational Excellence Consultant.

Jackie has held various Board positions at Family Day for 17 years. In 2007, she was Past Director of Membership at York Region Chapter and she came back in 2011 as Co-Chair for the Mentorship Program. She then served as Dir of Membership Development, Dir of Student/Senior Engagement, Chair Elect and Regulatory Liaison, and current Chair of York Region Chapter. In July 2019, she wrote an article for the Canadian HR Reported called “Coping with Cancer and Returning to Work, a Personal story of recovery highlights challenges facing employees and employers.

Jacqueline is a Warrior and happy to help others.

Chair, Chapter Regulatory Discussion Groups

A volunteer with HRPA York Region since 2015, Adriana lead the matching team on the Mentoring Committee, pairing Mentors and Mentees based on their skills and developmental needs. Now, as Director of this newly formed Committee, with her team of enthusiastic volunteers, they will look to offer programs of relevance to these distinct HRPA groups: Student Memberships and Senior, C-suite Members.

Adriana is a bilingual (English & French) Human Resources Professional, with over 10 years’ experience developing and maintaining strategic HR services and operations plans. She also specializes in accountability-focused organizational design, job analysis and evaluation, performance-based rewards, total compensation strategies, performance management, competencies, and strategic compensation philosophy development. She has delivered key solutions to such industries as the health sector, goods & services, management consulting, education, and media services.

In 2017, Adriana launched Get Fillip to assist companies with strategic HR, legislative & human rights compliance matters.

She stays on top of optimal standards of practice through continuous professional development, having just completed an HR Law course with Osgoode, she is currently pursuing her CHRE designation through HRPA and has earned her HR and Business Management Certificates from Ryerson.

Chair, Volunter Management Committee

Jackie Chavarie is a Senior Human Resource Professional with 25+ years of progressive Human Resource and Operations experience.

Her career has spanned a number of industries and roles including HR Lead at Leon’s Furniture Limited where she led the HR and Payroll functions, Senior Director, Talent & Organization Development at ADP Canada, Director, Human Resources for Metafore Technologies Inc. and various roles at Hudson’s Bay Company including progressive specialist and generalist roles across all human resource functions.

Having earned a Business Administration Diploma from Canadore College Jackie went on to earn her Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRL) designation and her Bachelor of Administrative Studies Degree from York University.

An active volunteer & mentor, Jackie has been on the HRPA York Region for 5 years and is also a member of the Complaints Committee and Co-Chair of the Board of Family Day Care Services.

Chair, Professional Development Core

Grace Davidian is a dedicated Human Resource Professional who has been involved with the York Region Chapter since 2003.  Grace has been part of the York Mentorship Program and mentored several HR students.  In 2017, Grace served as Director, Membership Committee and currently on her second term as, Director, Professional Development Committee.

Grace has worked extensively with engineering consulting companies and has been successful to recruit for unique positions across Canada, as well as implement programs and two HRIS systems during her tenure as Senior HR Manager.  In 2018, Grace launched, Gracie HRSolutions, to provide HR support to her small and mid-size clients in the GTA area, with recruitment, retention, policy development, employee relations and performance management.

Grace earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Toronto and her Human Resource Professional (CHRP and CHRL) designations from Seneca College.

Kaneez Jaffer, CHRP, CHRL, BA (Hons)

Chapter Chair Elect

Kaneez is a Certified Human Resources Leader with extensive experience in moving HR from a transactional model to a transformational one, having worked in the investment banking, group insurance, and legal industries. She has an advanced knowledge of employee engagement, total rewards, HRIS technology, HR marketing and communications and is passionate about creating an employee centric experience in order to further organizational objectives.

Kaneez is also a regular webinar host, panelist and public speaker on a range of HR issues, both with the HRPA and JungoHR and has been featured in Canadian HR Reporter Magazine.

Kaneez graduated with Honors in the UK from the University of West London, and also has a Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management as well as a Certificate in HR Law for HR Professionals from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto.

Kaneez currently lives in Vaughan with her husband and three children.

Chair, Chapter Student Liaison

Josie is an energetic Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL), with over 11 years of experience.

As the Senior HR Business Partner at CNA Insurance, she is responsible for all functional areas of HR. Prior to CNA, she worked at Deloitte and EY. With 20+ years of volunteering experience, Josie has had the opportunity to work with children, seniors and individuals with disabilities. Since joining the HRPA York Region in 2009, she’s volunteered with the Relationship Management Committee and Mentoring Committee. She was also the recipient of HRPA York Region’s 2014 Rising Star Award.

Josie holds a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies from Western University with a specialization in HR and French. She has her HRBP Certificate as well as The Osgoode Certificate in Advanced HR Law for Senior HR Executives. Over 2020, Josie completed the Real Estate Salesperson Program with Humber and now works part-time as a Salesperson.

Bridget King is currently Talent Acquisition Manager, North America Early Career at IBM, responsible for diversity recruiting, internship programs, early career programs and events.

Bridget has been a member and active volunteer with the York Region HRPA since 2015, most recently with the Student Engagement committee. She was the recipient of the HRPA York Region Innovation Award in 2019 and was named Campus Recruiter of the Year by TalentEgg in 2017.

Bridget is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, Honours Arts and Business Co-op Program (BA) -Political Science, HR Specialization and holds a Certificate in Strategic Business Leadership from the University of Toronto – Rotman School of Management (Executive Education Program). She volunteers with several organizations including HRPA York Region, URx Community, Defeat Depression Campaign, and Homeward Bound Industry Council (WoodGreen Community Services).

Chapter Secretary/Treasurer

As an accomplished bilingual HR leader, Andy’s career spans the non-profit, government and utility sectors. He is passionate about employment law, employee engagement and change management. As an avid learner, he is currently completing his Masters Certificate in Organizational Development and he hopes to implement greater organizational development strategies and practices within his organization.

Andy is community focussed. He is a Director on the Board of Directors at Houselink & Mainstay Community Homes in Toronto, with a mandate to provide affordable housing and support to the vulnerable.

A true believer in education, Andy holds a Master of Human Resources Management from York University, a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business at York University and a Bachelor of Education in Adult Education from Brock University. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling and swimming.

Diana Valler is an enthusiastic Human Resources executive with over 15 years of extensive experience in Strategic Human Resources, Talent Management and Organizational Transformation that focus on tangible business results.

Diana has demonstrated a track record of success as Vice President of Human Resources for multiple professional services companies within the franchising, consulting, software and travel industries. She is part of the company Executive Board leading the Human Resources Shared Services while volunteering for multiple initiatives within the community.

As an accomplished leader, Diana is mostly recognized for her contagious positive energy, passion for excellence, relentless pursuit of culture, making things happen, strategic communication and motivational approach. Diana holds a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts degree. In addition, she is a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL), currently pursuing her CHRE designation. Diana has been a member of HRPA York Region since 2012 and she is the current Director of the Career Management and Community Engagement portfolio.

Georgeta Suta is a seasoned Talent Acquisition professional with over 15 years of mixed agency and global corporate recruitment experience. She loves revamping processes, eliminating inefficiencies and coming up with innovative ideas in order to advance the recruitment and HR functions. Georgeta is truly passionate about diversity and inclusion and is currently the Program Manager for several global I&D projects, constantly pushing the agenda and challenging the status quo. She believes diversity brings high value to any team and in the end to the bottom line.

Georgeta holds a Bachelor in Economics – Finance & Insurance and is a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL). She has been an active volunteer with the HRPA York Chapter since 2012; most recently as the Matching Lead for the Mentoring Committee, her team led some of the largest mentoring programs in York Chapter’s history.
