At the Human Resources Professionals Association, we believe that better HR makes business better. Volunteering

Volunteering at HRPA is a rewarding membership experience and volunteers are critical to the association’s continued success.

With the expertise and involvement of members, we create awareness of workplace issues, promote excellence in human resources management practices and provide services that support the HR community, knowledge-sharing and continuous professional development.

HRPA members and students are involved in a variety of volunteer service opportunities including:

The first step to volunteering at HRPA is registering in our volunteer services database. If your registration is accepted, you receive a notification. When an opportunity that matches your preferences and/or skills becomes available, you may be contacted directly with more information about the available volunteer role.

Chapter Chair | Chair, Chapter Student Liaison

Appel entered into the HR profession after being a secondary school teacher for just over 10 years. Spending now 10 years in the HR profession she has experience in the nine functional areas of the Human Resources Professional Competency Framework. She holds undergraduate degrees from Queen’s University, a master’s degree from the University of Melbourne and completed the Human Resources Certificate through Loyalist College. Appel is passionate about supporting people who live and work in the community, loves to continually learn and focus on improvement initiatives.

Pamela Massicotte

Chapter Past Chair & Chair, Chapter Regulatory Discussion Groups

Pam has worked in the HR profession for 18+ years. Throughout this time, she has been involved in recruitment, HR planning and most recently, ​behavioural assessments.

In addition to her CHRL, Pam is a CPA, CMA and she has a degree from the University of Toronto with majors in Commerce & Economics.

Pam has served on the Quinte and District Chapter Board for the last two years and she enjoys meeting our membership at our regularly scheduled events.

Over the years, Pam has been involved in the local community and has been a volunteer with Belleville Minor Hockey as well as Girl Guides of Canada. She also was the Chair-CMA, Mideastern District for a number of years.

Christine Robertson
Christine Robertson, CHRL, PCP

Chapter Secretary/Treasurer

Christine has worked in the HR profession for over 25 years and has experience in building and overseeing full HR functions and generalist activities across Canada. She has a proven track record in driving and executing HR strategic plans and is an experienced member of leadership teams with a passion for adding value and solving problems.  In addition to her CHRL, Christine is a Payroll Compliance Practitioner and is a lifelong learner.  Christine moved to the Quinte region in 2015 and works as a Manager, Human Resources with Pathways to Independence.

Marlie Fortier
Marlie Fortier, CHRP

Chair, Chapter Programs

Marlie has her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in Legal Studies from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (Ontario Tech University) and a graduate certificate in Human Resources Management from Durham College. With over eight years’ experience working in leadership and human resources roles, Marlie is now the Human Resources Manager for multiple Home Hardware Building Centres throughout Northumberland County. Marlie oversees all areas of human resources and works directly with the Owner-Dealers and senior leadership of the stores building new initiatives for staff development.   

 

Marlie presently lives in Northumberland County and is happy to be back working and giving back to the community she grew up in.

Michelle Michaud, CHRP

Chair, Chapter Communications

Michelle has her Bachelors in Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University and her Certificate in Human Resources Management from Loyalist College. Currently Michelle is employed with the City of Quinte West as the Human Resources Generalist. Michelle is involved in all areas of Human Resources but has a strong background in recruitment and employee relations.

Michelle has lived in Quinte West for over 20 years and is passionate about learning and community involvement. Michelle was previously on the board in the position of Secretary.
