Volunteering

Volunteering at HRPA is a rewarding membership experience and volunteers are critical to the association’s continued success.

With the expertise and involvement of members, we create awareness of workplace issues, promote excellence in human resources management practices and provide services that support the HR community, knowledge-sharing and continuous professional development.

HRPA members and students are involved in a variety of volunteer service opportunities including:

Julie Yandt, CHRL

Chapter Chair/ Chair, Chapter Student Liaison

Julie Yandt is the Director, HR Business Partner and Program Management with The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group and holds the Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation.

Serving on the Board for the Peterborough Chapter from 2016-2018, Julie returned again in 2020 to serve as the Treasurer/Secretary and holds the role of Chair- Elect in the 2021/2022 year. Previous volunteer Board experience includes not-for-profit organizations. Julie also has been a Captain for a community mixed team in the Peterborough Dragon Boat Festival since 2012.

Julie holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources and Labour Relations, a Certified Talent Management Professional (CTMP) designation, and is certified in Prosci Change Management as a Train-The-Trainer to support her 14+ years of leadership in the field of human resources in various industries covering retail, manufacturing and insurance.

Chapter Past Chair

Sara was Programs Chair for Durham board for 5 years and has been with the Peterborough Chapter since 2015 as Program Chair.

Sara became Chair Elect in 2016, Chair in 2018 and this year takes on the role of Past Chair.

Chair, Chapter Programs

Amanda Payne is the Employee Relations and HR Program Management Lead with The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group.

She holds a Diploma in Business Administration – Human Resources Management and is presently completing her Degree through Athabasca University. Previous experience includes 8 years’ in Employment Services supporting employers and job seekers through recruitment, training and development. Amanda served as the Co-Executive Director with the Canadian Association for Prior Learning Assessment in 2018 and was a member of the Municipality of Trent Lakes Economic Development Committee between 2017 and 2018.

Amanda is excited to connect with the local community of HR Practitioners through the Peterborough Chapter board.

Chair, Chapter Regulatory Discussion Group

I have been employed at Great Blue Resorts as their Human Resources Manager for the past 4 years managing their 8 resorts as well as Head Office for all HR Functions. My Human Resources experience includes working in Non-Unionized environments within the Healthcare and Hospitality sectors. Within my 20+ years’ experience in the HR industry I have been able to build my expertise within Recruiting, Labour Relations, Performance Management, HR Software Implementation’s, Change Management, Payroll, and Health & Safety to name a few.

My educational background is within Human Resources from Fleming College, in addition, to being a Board Member on the Human Resources Professional Association – Peterborough Chapter for the past 7 years.

Secretary/Treasurer

Jessica is the newest member to the Peterborough Chapter Board in 2022, holding the position of Secretary Treasurer.

She holds a diploma in Business Administration—Human Resources Management and graduated Fleming College with President’s honour roll. Jessica is a Certified Human Resources Professional and a Payroll Compliance Practitioner. Currently, she coordinates all payroll, benefits, and employee engagement for Kawartha Dairy.

She is looking forward to working with the team and putting her time towards the HRPA.

A dedicated Human Resources professional with over 10 years of experience focused on payroll & data with experience in recruitment, benefits, pensions, learning & development, Health and Safety, Compensation and HR metrics. Previous HRPA volunteer experience includes the Programs Committee and later the Secretary/Treasurer role for the Peterborough Chapter board.
