Volunteering
Volunteering at HRPA is a rewarding membership experience and volunteers are critical to the association’s continued success.
With the expertise and involvement of members, we create awareness of workplace issues, promote excellence in human resources management practices and provide services that support the HR community, knowledge-sharing and continuous professional development.

About Leadership

Lucie Laperrière, CHRL
Chapter Co-Chair
Lucie is a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) with over ten years of progressive human resources management experience. She is currently the Manager of Organizational Development and Talent Management with the Canadore College of Applied Arts and Technology where she is accountable for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of strategies, programs and initiatives to support employee learning, development and engagement to advance institutional innovation, accountability and effectiveness.
Lucie received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Nipissing University and Human Resources Management and Business Program Management Certificates at Canadore College. She is fluently bilingual in French and English. Lucie has been an active member of the North Bay Chapter executive since 2014 in the positions of Program Director, Communications Chair, Chapter Chair-Elect, and her current position of Chapter Chair.

Trina Hayden, CHRP, CRSP
Chapter Co-Chair
Trina Hayden is the Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Manager for NORCAT. Trina comes from a very diverse professional background. Over the past ten years, her career has spanned many sectors including education, mining, construction, oil and gas, and technical trades. She has been accountable for a variety of functions, including Human Resources, Labour and Employee Relations, Training and Development, Health & Safety and Environment, and Quality Assurance.
Trina has a solid understanding and direct experience with governance, risk and compliance management through the development, implementation and management of integrated programs and initiatives. Her consultancy experience has included human capital gap analyses to forecast talent pool requirements, development and implementation of various safety management systems, training needs studies and audits at various phases of mining projects, tailored training programs, and safety guidelines to help shape and lead industry from a governmental planning perspective.
Trina holds her Bachelor of Science (Hons) Degree and Certificate in Environmental Biology from Laurentian University, is a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP). She currently serves as Secretary for both the Human Resources Professional Association Sudbury Chapter Board and the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering Mid-North Ontario Chapter Board.

Lori Lee Michaud, CHRL
Chapter Chair Elect
Lori Lee has been working as a Human Resource Professional for more than 15 years, has been a member of HRPA since 2004 and started volunteering for the North Bay HRPA Executive Board in 2016.
Her experience has touched in the areas of Non-Profit, Retail, Telecom, Manufacturing, Consulting, Mining and Transportation. She has worked in both union and non-union companies building relationships with employees and managers and working through areas of conflict and resolution.
In addition to Human Resources, Lori Lee obtained her diploma from Sheridan College as a Sign Language Communicator and is fluent in American Sign Language. She worked with the Deaf for approximately 7 years at The Canadian Hearing Society as well as some volunteer work. She has also worked as an Intervenor for the Deaf-Blind where the support person acts as another’s eyes and ears.
Lori Lee enjoys volunteering with the North Bay HRPA chapter, challenging herself with new and exciting projects and working alongside HR Professionals.

Kelsey Bastian, CHRP
Chair, Chapter Programs
Kelsey is a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) with over 5 years of progressive human resources management experience. She is currently a Human Resources Coordinator with Glencore’s Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations with a focus on organizational development, labour relations and disability management.
Kelsey received her BA in Psychology from Laurentian University, and Human Resources Management Certificate from Cambrian College. She has been an active member of the HRPA since 2016, achieved her CHRP in 2017 and is currently working towards obtaining the CHRL designation.

Beckie Gallardi, CHRP, CHRL
Chair, Chapter Mentorship
Beckie Gallardi is a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) with 19 years of professional human resources experience. She has had the opportunity to work across a number of diverse industries in areas of Recruitment and Retention, Employee and Labour Relations, Policy Creation and Implementation, and Continuous Improvement. Currently she is the HR Superintendent for Redpath Canada Limited where she is supporting all aspects of talent acquisition and development.
Beckie received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Nipissing University in Psychology and has been a member of the HRPA since 2007.
She appreciates the way the HRPA local chapter brings HR professionals together to create an environment they can go to for collaboration, continuous learning and professional growth.

Katerina Kmet, CHRP, CHRL
Chapter Secretary/Treasurer
Katerina Kmet is a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) with over 13 years of progressive human resources management experience. She is currently a Senior HR Specialist with Cementation where she is involved in all areas of human resources, but has a focus on training and development, recruitment and various employee programs. She holds a Certificate in Human Resources Management from Sheridan College and two Certificates in Adult Learning from Calgary University, one specializing in workplace learning and one specializing in online learning. Katerina is passionate about supporting people who live and work in the community and loves to continually learn.

Megan Johnson, CHRL
Chair, Chapter Communications
Megan Johnson is a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) with over 14 years of progressive human resources management experience. She is currently serving in the role of Human Resources Manager with Workplace Safety North, a leading provider of health and safety services, training, and resources for mining, mine rescue, and forest products sectors, as well as for northern Ontario businesses across all sectors.
Megan is interested in creating a rich experience for all members of the HRPA North Bay & Sudbury Chapter.

Marsha O'Connor, CHRP, CHRL
Chair, Chapter Regulatory Discussion Groups & Chair, Chapter Student Liaison
Marsha O’Connor is a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) with over 30 years of human resources management experience. Having retired from the Near North District School Board as the Manager of Human Resources in August of 2018, Marsha has a passion for innovation in the pursuit of supporting the organization as well as the individual employee. She is currently the Coordinator and a teacher in the HRM Program at Canadore College and in her spare time, she enjoys travelling and spending time with her family.
Marsha looks forward to supporting the needs of her human resources professional community as a member of the HRPA North Bay & Sudbury Chapter.
