Volunteering
Volunteering at HRPA is a rewarding membership experience and volunteers are critical to the association’s continued success.
With the expertise and involvement of members, we create awareness of workplace issues, promote excellence in human resources management practices and provide services that support the HR community, knowledge-sharing and continuous professional development.
HRPA members and students are involved in a variety of volunteer service opportunities including:

About Leadership

Vanessa Newcombe, CHRP, CHRL
Chapter Chair
In the past 20 years, Vanessa has gained a breadth of Human Resources experience in a variety of roles and industries, including Manufacturing, Distribution, Health Care, and Professional Services where for the past several years she has worked in Learning and Development.
She joined the Guelph Chapter in 2000, and after moving to London joined our London & District Chapter in 2015 (when she also earned her Certified Human Resources Leader designation). She credits finding a job with her current employer to a connection she made at her first Chapter meeting here, and decided to give back by volunteering as a member of the Communications Committee which progressed into the role of Chair for that committee in 2018. She served the Chapter as Chair Elect for the 2020/21 season and is looking forward to what the next few years bring as HRPA London & District Chapter Chair!

Lauren Manna, CHRP, CHRL
Chapter Chair Elect
Lauren has been a member of the HRPA since 2012, obtaining her CHRP in 2015 and her CHRL in 2017. She started her involvement with the HRPLD joining the Mentorship Committee and Programs Committee in 2013.
Professionally, she has worked in the HR community for almost 10 years, most of her time spent in the manufacturing industry until most recently where she is currently the HR Manager with a local training and consulting company.

Amanda Veitch CHRP, CHRL
Chapter Secretary / Treasurer
Amanda Veitch is currently a part-time HR Professor at Fanshawe College and Senior HR Consultant with HRP4B.Inc. Amanda obtained an Undergraduate degree in Sociology at Western University and a Human Resources Management Graduate Certificate from Fanshawe College. She holds both a CHRP and CHRL designation and was a volunteer Board Member with the London Chapter Board with the Mentorship Committee. After taking some time off to raise her son, she is excited to have the chance to participate with an extraordinary group of professionals and give back to the HR community.

Crystal West, CHRP
Chair, Chapter Communications
Crystal has worked at the same company since 2006 and in the HR department since 2011. Crystal is currently the Assistant HR Manager and her job duties entail a wide variety of HR functions including training and development, recruitment, performance management and compensation and benefits.
Crystal received her B.A. in Psychology and later attended Fanshawe College where she completed her certificate in Human Resources Management. Crystal achieved her CHRP designation in 2017 and she is working toward her CHRL.
Crystal volunteered for 3 years on the Mentoring and Workshops Committee for the London Chapter. She has participated in the mentoring program as both a mentor and mentee since 2016. Crystal’s experience with the London & District Chapter Board broadened as she stepped into the Communications Committee Chair role in May 2020.

Sarah Ryckman, CHRP, CHRL
Chair, Chapter Programs
Sarah graduated from the University of Guelph with a Honours History degree and a minor in Business Marketing. She then continued her studies and graduated from Fanshawe College obtaining her Graduate Human Resources Certificate.
Sarah has been an active member of the London and District HRPA Chapter since 2016. She has volunteered with the Student Liaison Committee for 2.5 years before taking on the Student Liaison Committee Chair role. She is also a member of the Program Advisory Committees for both the Human Resources and Manufacturing programs at Fanshawe. Sarah works as a Human Resources Generalist for a local manufacturing company involved in both local and international operations.
Sarah recently earned both her Master of Human Resource Management degree from York University and her CHRL designation.

Sebastian Rovithis, CHRP
Chair, Chapter Mentorship
Sebastian became a member of HRPA in 2018 and obtained his CHRP designation in 2019. Sebastian joined the local Chapter in the summer of 2018 and quickly became involved with the Mentorship program.
Sebastian graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Specialization in Psychology, and then from Niagara College School of Business obtaining his Graduate Human Resources Certificate. Professionally, Sebastian has been an active member of the Canadian Armed Forces for over 10 years, of those last two he served as a Human Resources Administrator and has taken courses on expenditure management, green procurement, and contracting.
He is President of the Mess Committee for the Wolseley Barracks Junior Ranks Mess. Sebastian currently works as a Human Capital Advisor for PriceWaterhouseCooper, where he is also the management chair for the Health & Safety Committee. Sebastian looks forward to gaining his CHRL in the coming year

Lianne Gallie, CHRP, CHRL
Chair, Chapter Student Liaison
With over twenty-five years of experience working in the Human Resources field holding progressively more challenging positions from Human Resources Administrator to Human Resources Manager, Lianne is a capable, experienced and well-rounded Human Resources Generalist.
Lianne is a proud teacher at Fanshawe College teaching in the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business with a focus on teaching HR Students. Lianne is passionate about teaching and loves to share her knowledge and experience and aims to ensure that future HR professionals are prepared for success in the field.
Lianne is a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) with a Masters in Human Resources, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Human Resources Management Diploma, and a College Teaching Graduate Certificate.
Lianne has her own HR Consulting business providing HR Services for small and medium sized businesses in Southwestern Ontario.
