Volunteering
Volunteering at HRPA is a rewarding membership experience and volunteers are critical to the association’s continued success.
With the expertise and involvement of members, we create awareness of workplace issues, promote excellence in human resources management practices and provide services that support the HR community, knowledge-sharing and continuous professional development.
HRPA members and students are involved in a variety of volunteer service opportunities including:

The first step to volunteering at HRPA is registering in our volunteer services database. If your registration is accepted, you receive a notification. When an opportunity that matches your preferences and/or skills becomes available, you may be contacted directly with more information about the available volunteer role.
About Leadership

Kerri Klassen, CHRL
Chapter Chair
Kerri is passionate about building strong relationships, which is why Employee Relations is always at the forefront of her career. Moving from the Toronto Chapter in 2007 to pursue an HR Specialist opportunity at Denso Manufacturing Canada Inc,, she joined the Guelph Chapter and continues to enjoy all of the volunteering opportunities it has to offer. Kerri is a U of T grad with an HR Diploma from McMaster. She has met a countless number of amazing HR Professionals through the Chapter Board, Chapter events and conferences. It has been a pleasure working as a Certified HR Professional with CulturedHR, and more recently at ApplyBoard Inc. as a Senior HR Business Partner.
Kerri is looking forward to returning to in-person events again as HRPA Guelph & District Chapter’s new Chapter Chair.

Evan Campbell
Chapter Past Chair
Evan Campbell is a labour and employment lawyer in the Guelph office of Filion Wakely Thorup Angeletti LLP and an active member of the Guelph Chapter. In his practice, he routinely counsels employers and HR professionals on all aspects of employment/labour law and regularly appears before the Courts and administrative tribunals, including the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal.
Evan has served in various capacities on the HRPA Guelph & District Chapter Board over the past 5 years and now moves into the Chapter Past Chair role for 2022-2023.

Catherine Phelps
Chapter Secretary/Treasurer
Catherine Phelps is a labour & employment lawyer at Filion Wakely Thorup Angeletti LLP. She assists employers with a variety of issues including terminations, human rights, grievances, occupational health and safety, workplace safety and insurance, employment contracts, workplace policies and workplace investigations. Catherine appears on behalf of employers at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Labour Relations Board and grievance arbitrations.

Emma Marriott, BMMgt, CHRL
Chair, Chapter Mentorship & Chair, Chapter Student Liaison
Emma Marriott is passionate about people and believes the journey begins within. She recently led downsizing efforts with an empathetic and caring approach that left people feeling heard, valued, supported, and empowered. Emma’s vision is to model the way and foster authentic organizational cultures that support sustained personal and professional growth to elevate performance. By living true to her values of quality, vulnerability, continuous learning, genuine connections, and mindfulness, she cultivates deep connections and lasting partnerships with those she serves. Emma is passionate about her wellness journey and is intentional about disconnecting. She experiences joy through yoga, running, reading, writing, spending time in nature, and connecting with family and friends.

Amanda Stokes, CHRP, CHRL, MBA
Chair, Chapter Programs
Amanda has been a member of the HRPA since 2011 and has been involved with her local chapter ever since. She enjoyed sharing her passion for the HR profession with students as the Chapter’s Student Liaison Chair for a few years and is now taking on the Chapter Programs Chair role.
Amanda has spent the last 10 years working in different HR/Business Management roles within the academic, retail and agriculture industries. Amanda is currently a part-time Faculty member at Conestoga College in their Human Resources Management program.
Amanda holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Fredericton, as well as her Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designations.

Zack MacPherson, CHRP
Chair, Chapter Communications
An experienced HR professional, Zack has held roles as a Recruitment Manager, HR Manager and is currently a Talent Partner. He is a University of Guelph alumni and is on track to obtain his CHRL shortly. Having been a part of the HRPA Guelph & District Chapter for over 10 years, Zack is excited to take the step to a Chapter Board role supporting the local chapter.
