Volunteering

Volunteering at HRPA is a rewarding membership experience and volunteers are critical to the association’s continued success.

With the expertise and involvement of members, we create awareness of workplace issues, promote excellence in human resources management practices and provide services that support the HR community, knowledge-sharing and continuous professional development.

HRPA members and students are involved in a variety of volunteer service opportunities including:

Nicole Papps, CHRL

Chapter Chair

Nicole Papps has been working in the Human Resource field for approximately 20 years.  She currently holds the role of HR Specialist in the Manufacturing sector within her hometown of Chatham-Kent.  She has broad experience which includes Pension & Benefit administration, Recruitment & Selection & Labour Relations.  Nicole holds a Human Resource Management Diploma from St. Clair College in Windsor and in 2008 she obtained her CHRP designation and in 2014 was advanced to the CHRL level.   Since joining the HRPA Chatham –Kent Chapter,  Nicole has been involved with the Programs Committee and has held various positions on the Board such as Secretary, Treasurer, Chair Elect and currently holds the position as Chair.

Katelyn Hanuszak, CHRP

Chair Elect and Communications Chair

Katelyn was born and raised in rural Chatham-Kent.  She attended Wilfrid Laurier University where she received an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.  Upon graduation from University she attended Conestoga College and received her Human Resources Management Post-Graduate Certificate in 2013.  After graduation Katelyn worked in an HR Generalist role in Waterloo before moving back to Chatham for a role as Employee Relations Coordinator (contract) at Union Gas.  During her first year at Union Gas she obtained her CHRP designation (2014) and was ultimately hired full time in 2015.  Today Katelyn works as a Sr HR Analyst in the HR Advisory Services department at Enbridge Gas Inc (formally known as Union Gas).  Katelyn has been volunteering with the HRPA since 2012 and with the Chatham-Kent chapter since 2015.

Elise Marentette, CHRL

Chair, Chapter Programs/Professional Development Committee

Elise Marentette has been a member of HRPA since 2003 and is currently the Program Chair for HRPA Chatham-Kent chapter. She has held previous roles of President, Past-President, and Director of Communications & Secretary. Elise started her career out in medical office administration then moved to manufacturing for over 30 years where she naturally progressed into human resource activities through her passion for nurturing and developing others. She received her CHRP certification in 2009 and advanced to CHRL in 2014.  Elise has shared her knowledge and experience by teaching Occupational H&S and Training & Development at St. Clair College in their continuing education program. She also volunteers with the Workplace Safety & Prevention Services (WSPS) by presenting their Health & Safety Awareness Program (HSAP) to youth and facilitates JHSC certification training courses for the Public Services Health & Safety Association (PSHSA). Elise is now the Principal Consultant of her own HR consulting company, HR+ By Design, where her mission is to help business succeed through the growth and development of their people.

Tracey Arnold, CHRL

Chapter Secretary/Treasurer

Tracey Arnold has been a member of HRPA since 2002 and is currently the Secretary/Treasurer for HRPA Chatham-Kent Chapter. She has held previous roles of President, Past-President, and Director of Communications & Membership. Tracey started her career in manufacturing for over 22 years starting out as a generalist and focusing on Health & Safety.  Most recently she is the Manager – Human Resources for an automotive company in Chatham-Kent.  Over the years she has worked in the automotive sector, packaging, and food processing.  She received her CHRP certification in 2005 and advanced to CHRL in 2014.  Tracey enjoys all aspects of Human Resources and loves working with people.

Taryn Zimmer, CHRP

Chair, Chapter Mentorship Committee

Taryn graduated from Western University, majoring in Criminology with a minor in Psychology, before completing the Human Resources Management Certification program at Mohawk College. Taryn joined the HRPA Chatham-Kent Chapter executive board in 2014 and is currently the Mentorship Chair. She has held previous roles as Communications Director and Secretary. Today, Taryn works for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, in Employment & Social Services.

Sarah Fernandes, CHRL

Chair, Chapter Regulatory Liaison Committee

Sarah Fernandes graduated from St. Clair College in 2004 with a diploma in Business Management – Human Resources. After graduation Sarah started her HR career within manufacturing sector in Chatham-Kent.  During this time she obtained her CHRP designation (2007) and advanced to CHRL (2014).  Today she is currently employed as a HR Generalist for a not-for-profit organization since November 2012. Sarah started volunteering with her local chapter on the programs committee and in 2018 started her role as Regulatory Liaison Chair. She is excited to expand her knowledge and experience as she continues to grow with the local chapter team.
