Managing employees with illnesses can be a daunting task. Our program is intended to educate employers on their rights when it comes to verifying claims of Illness, disability and workplace injuries. Employers have rights and it is imperative they know the type of information they are entitled to receive when managing leaves.

Andrew Ebejer

Andrew Ebejer is a lawyer with Sherrard Kuzz LLP, where he provides advice and representation to employers and management on a broad range of employment- and labour-related issues, including occupational health and safety, human rights and accommodation, grievance arbitration, and wrongful and constructive dismissal litigation. Andrew is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, Canadian Bar Association and Ontario Bar Association. He regularly speaks on labour and employment topics and is a frequently contributor to national and international publications.

Carolyn Savoury

Carolyn Savoury practices law with Sherrard Kuzz LLP, one of Canada’s leading employment and labour law firms representing employers.

Carolyn provides advice and representation to employers in all areas of labour and employment law, including: workplace investigations, responding to union organizing and applications for certification, wrongful and constructive dismissal litigation, grievance arbitration, collective bargaining, occupational health and safety, and human rights.

 Carissa Tanzola

Carissa Tanzola, LLP

Chair of the Labour and Employment Law Section of the Ontario Bar Association, Carissa is a skilled advocate whose practice is focused on the representation of management in several areas of employment and labour law with particular emphasis on occupational health and safety, workplace safety and insurance and disability management.

Widely published in industry publications such as Canadian Employment Law Today, Canadian HR Reporter and Canadian Safety Reporter, Carissa is frequently invited to lead seminars and webinars on areas related to her practice. Carissa is a member of the Ontario Road Builders’ Association (ORBA) Health and Safety Committee, Grand Valley Construction Association, and mentors young labour and employment lawyers through the Ontario Bar Association’s mentorship program. She is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Bar Association (Labour & Employment, Civil Litigation, Constitutional, Civil Liberties & Human Rights, Workers’ Compensation, Young Lawyers) and Law Society of Upper Canada.

Carissa obtained her law degree at the University of Ottawa, and an Honours Degree (Distinction) in Political Science from Western University. She was a summer and articling student with Sherrard Kuzz LLP during which time she completed a secondment with the Ontario Labour Relations Board.
