Practitioner

A Practitioner is a general registrant who

  • is of apparent good character;
  • has agreed to abide by the Rules of Professional Conduct, the Standards and Guidelines of Practice, the Code of Conduct and any other criteria as established by the Board, as applicable;
  • if living or working in Ontario, is affiliated with a Chapter; and
  • has paid all applicable Registration dues.

student  

​Student​

An applicant who meets all the criteria for ​registration in the Association and who, in addition, is enrolled in HRPA-approved courses on a full-time basis and who does not meet the criteria for another category of registration. An applicant for the Student Registration must:

  • Submit proof that they are currently taking a minimum of three concurrent HRPA-approved courses in human resources management in a post-secondary diploma or degree program

allied 

Allied Professional

An individual who is a current member of a regulated profession listed in Schedule 1 of the Fair Access to Regulated Professionals and Compulsory Trades Act, 2009; and any other professional regulatory bodies as the Board may approve at its sole discretion from time to time may be admitted to the category of Allied Professional. Allied Professional registrants must provide proof of their professional status and good standing with their professional regulatory body. Applicants for this category of membership must:

  • Have their professional body complete and submit a Confirmation o​f Good Standing form​ to HRPA on their behalf​

  • HRPA Approved Allied Membership list

    • The Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario

    • The Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario

    • The Association of Ontario Land Surveyors

    • The College of Early Childhood Educators

    • The College of Veterinarians of Ontario

    • The Law Society of Upper Canada

    • The Ontario Association of Architects

    • The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists

    • The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers

    • The Ontario College of Teachers

    • The Ontario Professional Foresters Association

    • Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario

iep

Internationally Educated HR Professional (HRIEP)

Specially discounted fee for HR professionals who are new to Canada within the last two years and who have practiced HR full-time outside of Canada within the past five years. The HR IEP registration is a bridging program which gives the individual an opportunity to establish themselves in the Ontario HR community. All registrations expires on May 31, the individual must renew at one of the other voting or non-voting registration categories if he or she wishes to remain a registrant.

​All HRPA Registrants residing in the province of Ontario are required to affiliate with one of HRPA's 27 chapte​rs across Ontario​ (included with registration). The chapters provide local networking opportunities, professional development activities, mentoring connections, conferences, workshops and social events that will enhance your career. ​
