If you’re interested in enrolling in a human resources-related discipline, or are currently enrolled in HR studies, TD Insurance and the Human Resources Professionals Association would like to help you pursue your career.
Follow this application process to see if you’re eligible for one of the twenty scholarships being given out this year – at least half will be awarded to students at the undergraduate level, the remaining scholarships will be reserved for post-graduate students, with each recipient also receiving one year of HRPA membership in the Student registrant category. Please note that memberships will only be given to the scholarship winners.
To be eligible for one of the twenty (20) $500 scholarships sponsored by TD Insurance, you must meet the following criteria:
Be a resident of Ontario
Enrolled in the 1st year of a 2-year diploma program, the 2nd year of a 3-year diploma or degree program, or the 3rd year of a 4-year degree program in a college or university in Ontario in a human resources-related program (e.g. organizational development, business with a HR focus, etc.) - 15 scholarships available
Enrolled in a graduate program in HR – inclusive of a Human Resource Management Certificate at an Ontario College or a graduate degree such as a Masters of Human Resource Management, Masters of Industrial Relations, Masters of Labour Relations, MSc. in Management or Masters in Organizational Behavior from an Ontario University - 5 scholarships available
Have a minimum ‘B’ average in your last completed year of study. Finalists may be required to provide proof of grade average.
Demonstrate strong communication skills
Demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities
Be legally eligible to work in Canada upon graduation
Submit two 250 word essays:
Your view of the value that human resources contributes to organizational success, and
Your involvement in extracurricular activities and the value of these experiences and the lessons learned.
To be valid, your application must be in PDF format in English and be submitted to TDscholarships@hrpa.ca by the deadline of 11:59:59pm on Thursday, November 30, 2017 and include the following:
Your full name, mailing and email addresses
The full name and address in Ontario of the institution and program in which you are currently enrolled in or will be enrolled by September 30, 2017

Terms & Conditions
The following terms and conditions apply to the HRPA/TD Insurance HR Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship. The organizer of the scholarship is Human Resources Professionals Association.
Your application is confirmation of your acceptance of these terms and conditions.
You meet the above criteria.
Have submitted a completed application in PDF format in English to TDscholarships@hrpa.ca by the application deadline of 11:59:59pm on Thursday November 30, 2017.
The Human Resources Research Institute (HRRI) reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to modify, amend (including extending the award application deadline) or cancel the HRPA/TD Insurance HR Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship program at any time without individual notice, and to decide all questions respecting the awarding of the prizes, and the administration of the terms and conditions of the program.
A judging panel will be responsible for evaluating the written entries based on the following considerations/criteria:
Completeness of application
Clarity of thought and communication of content
Demonstrated interest in the HR profession
Grammar and spelling
Essays do not exceed the maximum number of words permitted
All final judging decisions will be reviewed and approved by HRPA. All applicants will be notified in early January 2018 by email, within 5 business days of potential winner selection.
Potential scholarship recipients (and in the case of minors, a parent or legal guardian) consent to the use of their name, city and province or territory of residence and photograph, without further compensation, in any publicity carried out by the HRPA in respect of the Scholarship Program. No deferral of the scholarship will be granted to a scholarship recipient; if a winner is not enrolled in a qualifying program or maintaining a B average at the time of the award, they will be disqualified and a new winner will be selected.
Potential scholarship recipients must provide their social insurance number prior to release of the scholarship funds; failure to provide this information will result in disqualification and a new winner will be selected.
By entering this scholarship competition you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions and the decisions of the scholarship competition judges, which records and decisions shall be deemed final, conclusive and binding in all matters.
You certify that all the information provided in your application is true, accurate, and complete to the best of your knowledge and that you understand that the provision of false information will render you ineligible for this scholarship.
By submitting this scholarship application, you hereby authorize HRPA and its colleagues/employees, agents, contractors and those of its affiliates to release any information provided in or relating to my scholarship application to its representatives, the award judges, and their respective representatives who need to know such information for purposes of administering and promoting this scholarship program. The selection committee will use the information only for purposes of evaluating your scholarship application.
You hereby authorize third parties, such as universities, government or community sources to release information required for the HRPA/TD Insurance HR Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship, and their respective representatives who need to know such information for purposes of administering the HRPA/TD Insurance HR Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship. This information may include personal evaluations, verification that student information is correct and transcripts.
You understand and agree that the HRPA/TD Insurance HR Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship will use information gathered in connection with scholarship applications in aggregate and anonymous form to further its understanding of students in general. The aggregate and anonymous information may also be used by the HRPA for any advertising, marketing, publicity, promotion or other commercial or non-commercial purpose. You acknowledge that I have no right of approval, notice, compensation, or consultation with respect to HRPA's use of my Application.
In the event that you are a scholarship recipient, you grant to HRPA the right to use my name, likeness, city and province of residence, post-secondary program name and any direct quotes made by me in respect to the scholarship program for publicity purposes without further compensation.
