We are pleased to share the results of our Board of Directors Election, which officially closed on Friday, February 21. Thank you to all the candidates and those who voted.

Each of our new Board members brings a wealth of professional experience and expertise to their new roles. We’re thrilled to welcome these leaders who’ll play an integral role in advancing regulation and governance of the human resources profession in the public interest.

Vice President, People & Culture at YMCA of the National Capital Region

Morgan Bello is a passionate leader in human resources, labour relations, and corporate strategy, whose career has been marked by his commitment to fostering inclusive, high-performing workplaces. Morgan has dedicated over a decade to driving meaningful change in organizations, championing diversity, and empowering communities.

As Vice President of People, Culture, and Corporate Services at the YMCA of the National Capital Region, Morgan has spearheaded transformative initiatives, including the development of a robust compensation strategy, multi-union labour relations management, and groundbreaking diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies. His leadership has not only strengthened organizational performance but also reinforced the YMCA’s role as a champion of community wellbeing.

Beyond his executive role, Morgan is a dedicated educator, currently serving as a professor of Human Resources Management at Algonquin College. His passion for mentorship and knowledge-sharing extends into the classroom, where he equips future HR leaders with the tools they need to navigate complex workplace challenges.

Morgan’s impact is further evidenced by his extensive volunteer work. He has served as a board member for the Canadian Paralympic Committee, Bladder Cancer Canada, and the College of Nurses of Ontario, leveraging his expertise to shape policies and initiatives that drive social progress.

Holding a Master of Industrial Relations from Queen’s University, an MBA, and certifications as a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and Certified Mediator (C. Med), Morgan embodies the intersection of academic excellence and practical expertise. His bilingual proficiency in English, Spanish and French further enhances his ability to connect with diverse communities and professionals across Canada.

Alison Staples is a transformative Human Resources Executive with a proven track record of implementing high-impact talent and culture strategies that drive organizational excellence. With over 20 years of leadership experience across corporate and nonprofit sectors, Alison has implemented sustainable people and culture solutions that unlock leadership potential, optimize performance, and strengthen business outcomes.

As the Chief People Officer & Chief Privacy Officer at March of Dimes Canada, Alison leads enterprise-wide initiatives that enhance workforce engagement, build leadership capability, and reinforce a culture of inclusivity, agility, and accountability. Her career includes executive HR leadership roles at the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, Kids Help Phone, and Deloitte & Touché.

Alison holds a Certified Human Resources Executive (CHRE) designation and an MBA from Nova Southeastern University. She is certified in Prosci Change Management and Diversity & Inclusion through the Canadian Centre for Diversity & Inclusion, reinforcing her expertise in leading complex change and fostering diverse, high-performing workplaces.

She also completed the High Potential Leadership Program at Harvard University in 2013, further strengthening her executive leadership capabilities.

A dedicated governance and industry leader, Alison serves as a Board Director of the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA) and previously held leadership roles with HRPA York Region Chapter, North York General Hospital’s sub-Board Committee, and Imagine Canada’s Accreditation Committee as a Peer Reviewer.
