Volunteering at HRPA is a rewarding membership experience and volunteers are critical to the association’s continued success.

jackie-cabildo
Jackie Cabildo, CHRP, CHRL

Chapter Chair

Jacqueline Cabildo is known as Jackie of All Trades as she has worked in various industries and has worn many different hats both in business and as an active contributor to her community.

She joined Allegis Global Solutions 11 years ago where she held different roles from Client Service Manager to Acquisitions Manager and with her current role as the Operational Excellence & Technology (OE&T) Consultant for OPX Center of Excellence. Her recent accomplishments include Day 1 Readiness Playbook, Program Health Check, AGS Way Operational Best Practices including AGS Way BRD Point of View.

Jackie has held various Board positions for Non-Profit organizations including Family Day for 17 years. She was a Past Director of Membership at York Region Chapter in 2007.

She has been volunteering for the HRPA since 2011, beginning as Co-Chair for the Mentorship Program. She then served for two years as Director of Membership Development, followed by a year as Director of Student/Senior Engagement and two years as Chair Elect and Regulatory Liaison before finally graduating to her current position as Chair of York Region Chapter. She recently stepped down from HRPA Complaints and Investigation Committee where she had been an active member since 2013.

Outside of the HRPA, Jackie has been actively involved with Allegis Global Solutions in serving community outreach programs spearheaded by her colleagues.

Jackie is an active mentor and she was nominated by her mentees for an Honorary Life Award Human Resources Professional. At work, she was an active participant of All4Diversity Council and Co-Ambassador of Lean-In Circle. In 2014, she travelled to Dominican Republic with SJTW Parish to help build houses.

In addition to her strong leadership background and board experience, Jackie brings a solid and varied education with a Bachelor of Commerce, an MBA, an HR Post-Diploma, a Project Management Certificate and an Adult Education/Staff Training Certificate. She is also a Certified HR Professional and Leader.

In July 2019, Jacqueline wrote an article for the Canadian HR Reporter called Coping with Cancer and Returning to Work, a Personal story of recovery highlights challenges facing employees and employers. She was also a contributor to a number of published books.

Renee Rotman, CHRP, CHRL, MHRM

Chapter Past Chair

Renee Rotman is a dynamic Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL), with over 8 years of progressive experience in employee relations, change management, leadership development, coaching, facilitation and employee engagement. She has a passion for helping organizations during periods of rapid growth and change, with a mission of maintaining employee engagement and mitigating risk. She has a unique ability to build trust and relationships with employees at all levels, while influencing and advising mangers and the executive leadership team.

Renee has served on the HRPA York Region Board of Directors since 2014, serving previously as the Vice President (2015-2017), Director of Volunteer Management (2015-2017) and the Director of Education (2014-2015). As well, Renee volunteers with a local community agency which serves new immigrants, leading workshops and providing coaching on interviewing skills within the Canadian market.

In 2013, Renee was the recipient of the HRPA York Region’s first annual “Rising Star” award. Renee was also honoured in 2011 as one of the “Top 20 Under 40” volunteers in the local community and received the “Young Professional, Excellence in Volunteering” award.

Renee holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management from York University, a Post-Graduate Certificate from George Brown College and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from the University of Western Ontario.

Adriana Carlin

Chair, Chapter Student Member Engagement

A volunteer with HRPA York Region since 2015, Adriana lead the matching team on the Mentoring Committee, pairing Mentors and Mentees based on their skills and developmental needs. Now, as Director of this newly formed Committee, with her team of enthusiastic volunteers, they will look to offer programs of relevance to these distinct HRPA groups: Student Memberships and Senior, C-suite Members.

Adriana is a bilingual (English & French) Human Resources Professional, with over 10 years’ experience developing and maintaining strategic HR services and operations plans. She also specializes in accountability-focused organizational design, job analysis and evaluation, performance-based rewards, total compensation strategies, performance management, competencies, and strategic compensation philosophy development. She has delivered key solutions to such industries as the health sector, goods & services, management consulting, education, and media services.

In 2017, Adriana launched Get Fillip to assist companies with strategic HR, legislative & human rights compliance matters.

She stays on top of optimal standards of practice through continuous professional development, having just completed an HR Law course with Osgoode, she is currently pursuing her CHRE designation through HRPA and has earned her HR and Business Management Certificates from Ryerson.

Chair, Chapter Volunteer Management

Jackie Chavarie is a Senior Human Resource Professional with 25+ years of progressive Human Resource and Operations experience.

Her career has spanned a number of roles including Senior Director, Talent & Organization Development at ADP Canada, where she was responsible for the design, development and implementation of innovative programs, processes and services in support of organizational effectiveness. Prior to that role, Jackie was Director, Human Resources for Metafore Technologies Inc. a subsidiary of Hartco Inc. and spent a number of years in various roles at Hudson’s Bay Company. Roles included P & L and line responsibilities as well as progressive specialist and generalist roles across all human resource functions.

Having earned a Business Administration Diploma from Canadore College Jackie went on to earn her Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRL) designation and her Bachelor of Administrative Studies Degree from York University.

An active volunteer, Jackie recently most recently served as Director, Mentorship for the Human Resources Professional Association York Region and is a Board Member for Family Day Care Services operating in Peel, York and Toronto regions.

Chair, Chapter Programs/Professional Development

Grace Davidian is a dedicated Human Resource Professional who has been involved with the York Region Chapter since 2003.  Grace has been part of the York Mentorship Program and mentored several HR students.  In 2017, Grace served as Director, Membership Committee and currently on her second term as, Director, Professional Development Committee.

Grace has worked extensively with engineering consulting companies and has been successful to recruit for unique positions across Canada, as well as implement programs and two HRIS systems during her tenure as Senior HR Manager.  In 2018, Grace launched, Gracie HRSolutions, to provide HR support to her small and mid-size clients in the GTA area, with recruitment, retention, policy development, employee relations and performance management.

Grace earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Toronto and her Human Resource Professional (CHRP and CHRL) designations from Seneca College.

Carolynn Jaye

Chair, Chapter Regulatory Liaison Committee

Carolynn Jaye has worked in Human Resources for the public sector since 2007. Her passion for analytics and reasoning led to a specialist career as an Organizational Design and Classification Advisor for over 9 years. Her strategic approach delivers long-term plans to resolve complex resource challenges. Her progressive experience is leading into an operational and corporate function as an engaging, service focused Senior Advisor who leads business projects and policy development, supports the training needs of her team. She continues to provide enriched operational support to her clients.

She served on the Education Committee for HRPA’s York Region for several years before taking on the role as the CKE Support & Programming Director in 2018.

Carolynn holds an Honours degree in French Studies with a minor in Psychology, has HR and Business Management Undergraduate Certificates from Ryerson University, and is currently pursuing courses toward her MBA.

Co-Chair, Chapter Career Management & Community Engagement

Diana Valler is an enthusiastic Human Resources executive with over 15 years of extensive experience in Strategic Human Resources, Talent Management and Organizational Transformation that focus on tangible business results.

Diana has demonstrated a track record of success as Vice President of Human Resources for multiple professional services companies within the franchising, consulting, software and travel industries. She is part of the company Executive Board leading the Human Resources Shared Services while volunteering for multiple initiatives within the community.

As an accomplished leader, Diana is mostly recognized for her contagious positive energy, passion for excellence, relentless pursuit of culture, making things happen, strategic communication and motivational approach. Diana holds a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts degree. In addition, she is a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL), currently pursuing her CHRE designation. Diana has been a member of HRPA York Region since 2012 and she is the current Director of the Career Management and Community Engagement portfolio.

Kaneez Jaffer, CHRP, CHRL, BA (Hons)

Co-Chair, Chapter Career Management & Community Engagement

Kaneez is a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) with a deep knowledge of human resources and organizational structure and design. She has extensive experience with HRIS systems and understands the need to move HR from a transactional model to a transformational one. Kaneez has worked in the investment banking, insurance, and legal industries as well as with large not-for-profit centres helping to simplify and streamline their internal systems. She is an expert in building relationships and affecting change in a positive and productive way. As Vice President, HR Consulting at the Apri Group of Companies, Kaneez manages the strategic implementation of HR Technology across Canada, while providing expert advice and counsel on a range of HR matters. In the past, Kaneez has volunteered for the Communications committee and the CKE committee for the York Region Board. After completing her Bachelors with Honors, Kaneez went onto gain her CHRP and CHRL designations and a Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management as well as a Certificate in HR Law from the Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, Canada.

Chair, Chapter Communications Committee

Shelby Samuels is an HR professional with more then 10 years of generalist experience across various industries. Since earning her CHRP designation in 2005, she has focused on the areas of employee engagement & retention, organizational development, performance development and management as well as building strong relationships with her client groups to ensure that HR strategy is tied with business goals. She is currently a Senior HR Generalist at a promotional goods sales company.

Shelby has been a member of the York Region chapter for 10 years and has volunteered on the Holiday Party committee, on the Education Committee as well as a mentor. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Wilfrid Laurier University as well as a post-graduate certificate in HR Management from Humber College.

Chair, Chapter Mentorship Committee

Georgeta Suta is a seasoned Talent Acquisition professional with over 15 years of mixed agency and global corporate recruitment experience. She loves revamping processes, eliminating inefficiencies and coming up with innovative ideas in order to advance the recruitment and HR functions. Georgeta is truly passionate about diversity and inclusion and is currently the Program Manager for several global I&D projects, constantly pushing the agenda and challenging the status quo. She believes diversity brings high value to any team and in the end to the bottom line.

Georgeta holds a Bachelor in Economics – Finance & Insurance and is a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL). She has been an active volunteer with the HRPA York Chapter since 2012; most recently as the Matching Lead for the Mentoring Committee, her team led some of the largest mentoring programs in York Chapter’s history.

Ejaz Malik, CHRP

Chapter Secretary/Treasurer

Ejaz H. Malik is an enthusiastic, forward looking Human Resources Professional possessing advanced HR knowledge and over 20 years of career progression. He has accumulated broad experience and expertise in all functional areas of Human Resources and Operations while focusing on tangible business results. He is a strong advocate for professional development and possesses solid regulatory experience.

Ejaz’s career has spanned several roles, starting as an HR Analyst in the education industry, and climbing the ladder up to Director Administration & HR at GC University. As an adjunct faculty he has taught a broad range of courses at the degree, diploma, and graduate certificate levels, preparing graduates for professional careers in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration and Human Resources.

As an accomplished HR professional, he is often recognized for his contagious positive energy, passion for excellence, relentless pursuit of culture, making things happen, strategic communication, and motivational approach. In 2019 Ejaz launched Talentax Consulting Inc. to provide HR, Accounting, Bookkeeping and Tax support to small and mid-size clients in the GTA area.

Ejaz holds a Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management from York University and a Master’s Degree in Commerce (M.Com.) in Finance from Hailey.

Ejaz has completed the CHRP designation program earning the corresponding credential as a Top Scorer.

He is a final exam candidate for CHRL & PMP designations and has been an active HRPA volunteer since 2018, most recently managing the Member, Volunteer Management Portfolio for the York Region.

She has been an active volunteer with the HRPA York Chapter since 2012; most recently as the Matching Lead for the Mentoring Committee, her team led some of the largest mentoring programs in York Chapter’s history.

Ejaz H. Malik is an enthusiastic, forward looking Human Resources Professional possessing advanced HR knowledge and over 20 years of career progression. He has accumulated broad experience and expertise in all functional areas of Human Resources and Operations while focusing on tangible business results. He is a strong advocate for professional development and possesses solid regulatory experience.

Ejaz’s career has spanned several roles, starting as an HR Analyst in the education industry, and climbing the ladder up to Director Administration & HR at GC University. As an adjunct faculty he has taught a broad range of courses at the degree, diploma, and graduate certificate levels, preparing graduates for professional careers in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration and Human Resources.

As an accomplished HR professional, he is often recognized for his contagious positive energy, passion for excellence, relentless pursuit of culture, making things happen, strategic communication, and motivational approach. In 2019 Ejaz launched Talentax Consulting Inc. to provide HR, Accounting, Bookkeeping and Tax support to small and mid-size clients in the GTA area.

Ejaz holds a Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management from York University and a Master’s Degree in Commerce (M.Com.) in Finance from Hailey.

Ejaz has completed the CHRP designation program earning the corresponding credential as a Top Scorer.

He is a final exam candidate for CHRL & PMP designations and has been an active HRPA volunteer since 2018, most recently managing the Member, Volunteer Management Portfolio for the York Region.
