Volunteering

Volunteering at HRPA is a rewarding membership experience and volunteers are critical to the association’s continued success.

With the expertise and involvement of members, we create awareness of workplace issues, promote excellence in human resources management practices and provide services that support the HR community, knowledge-sharing and continuous professional development.

HRPA members and students are involved in a variety of volunteer service opportunities including:

About Leadership

Tracey Bickle, CHRL

Chapter Co-Chair

Tracey has been working in the Human Resources field for 10 years. She is a graduate of the Trent University Bachelors of Business Administration Program. After completing her degree she continued to work towards achieving her Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation which she received in 2013. Since then she has worked mostly in the manufacturing field but also has experience in the construction, administration, healthcare and not for profit industries.

Maggie O’Connor

Chapter Co-Chair

Maggie O’Connor is the Human Resources Manager at Canadian Tire Store 417 in Kingston. Providing services to over 150 employees, she is a member of the senior management team responsible for recruitment, training, total compensation, occupational health and safety and performance management.

She holds a joint Honours degree in Anthropology and History from the University of New Brunswick and a post-grad Diploma in Human Resources form St. Lawrence College.  Maggie successfully completed her CHRP designation in 2018 and is working toward her CHRL designation.

Maggie has been a board member of the Kinston Chapter for the past two years and looks forward to continuing to help bring a meaningful program to the  Kingston Chapter in the upcoming year.

In her spare time, you can find her in the dance studio where she teaches ballet, jazz and tap to students between the ages of 3-9.  She also enjoys reading, travelling, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Rebecca Phillips-LeSueur, CHRL

Co-Chair, Chapter Communications Committee

Becky is a Community Relations Coordinator with a large community health organization. She has 29 years in the health care sector and holds a Diploma from St. Lawrence College and a Certificate with honors in Human Resource Management (2009). She earned the CHRL designation in 2010 with a National Knowledge Exam mark in the top 2% Canada-wide. Her HR experience includes labour relations, full-cycle recruitment, and training, as well as event coordination, public relations, engaging and working with external and internal partners. Over the past 10 years she has held director positions in membership, events, communications, secretary, and president/chair with the HRPA Brockville & District Chapter.

Gail MacAllister

Co-Chair, Chapter Communications Committee

Gail has been a member of the Kingston Chapter HRPA since 2016 and achieved her CHRP in 2017.  She has completed two masters level degrees from Queen’s University, Theology (2011) and Industrial Relations (2015), and will graduate from Osgoode Hall Law School with the Master of Law specializing in Dispute Resolution in June 2020. Her current professional role is with the School of Policy Studies at Queen’s University where she serves as the Department Manager, Program Director and Adjunct Lecturer.  She also loves teaching at St. Lawrence College in programs offered by the School of Business.

She has enjoyed attending the many learning opportunities and dinners hosted by the Kingston Chapter of the HRPA and is very excited to give back to the community in the role of Communications Chair.

Cyndi Phillips

Chapter Secretary/Treasurer

Cyndi is an Operations Manager with a local security company whose role includes both operational and Human Resources responsibilities. She holds a graduate certificate with honours in Human Resources Management from Algonquin College, a diploma from St. Lawrence College, and she is currently working towards her CHRP designation.

Craig Roche, MIR, CHRP

Chair, Chapter Mentorship Committee

Craig is employed as an Education Assistant at Brockville General Hospital in the Professional Practice Department. He has a Master of Industrial Relations from Queen’s University, Graduate Certificate in HR from Seneca College, and a BA from McMaster University in Honours Sociology. He is currently completing a Graduate Certificate in Health & Safety and is working towards the CRSP designation. He is active and holds a board position with the Brockville and District Chamber of Commerce and Co-Chairs the Brockville Young Professionals Network.

Lauren Shoniker

Chair, Chapter Programs/Professional Development Committee

Lauren is a Human Resources Coordinator at Brown’s Fine Food Services, Inc. in Kingston, ON. She has been on the Kingston and District Chapter Board since 2018, and is currently the Chapter Regulatory Liaison Chair.

Lauren earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guelph and her Advanced Diploma in Business Administration – Human Resources from St. Lawrence College.
