Welcome to the HRPA Central West Chapter
The Chapter Council act as ambassadors for the HRPA and the human resources (HR) profession, providing professional development opportunities, arranging networking and social events, hosting HR Power Lunch webinars, and facilitating ad-hoc volunteer opportunities. Chapter events provide members with the opportunity to develop skills and proficiencies, obtain CPD hours and build valuable connections with peers.
Chapter Councils also help promote and support HRPA initiatives such as the HRPA Mentorship Programs, HRPA Online Communities, HRPA Student activities and more. Robert Gearing, CHRP, CHRL
Council Past Chair - Peel
Rob previously served the Peel Chapter Board as the Communications Chair, Student Liaison Chair and as Chair. He was also a past annual conference volunteer. Rob has also been involved with the Board of directors for the Peel HIV/AIDS Network (now known as Moyo Health and Community Services) and the Gilbert Centre in Barrie. Rob holds both his CHRP and CHRL designations and currently lives in Brampton with his partner.
Michael Greenwood
Council Past Chair – West Toronto
Michael Greenwood CPA, CA, CFP, TEP brings over 25 years of experience in finance, consulting and business operations. He has specialized in providing insurance and group benefits solutions for the past 15 years. Before launching Pelorus’ benefits practice, he worked for one of Canada’s leading life insurance companies. Prior to entering the insurance industry, Michael worked for a national consulting firm and in the private sector in various financial and senior operational roles. Michael regularly speaks and writes about employee benefits, corporate culture and workplace wellness.
Sue Skawinski, CHRP, CHRL
Council Past Chair - Barrie
Sue is a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) with over 25 years of progressive Human Resources experience. Sue completed her Post Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management through Humber College in Toronto.
Sue’s passion is recruiting, however, does possess many years of generalist HR experience including, but not limited to, Talent Acquisition, International HRM, Employee Relations, Compensation & Benefits, HRIS & Payroll and Health & Safety. Sue is currently working as Head of HR with Hitachi Rail STS Canada. Sue has held various roles within HR such as Director, Resourcing, Manager, Recruiting, and Human Resources Manager. Much of her career has been in the rail and transit industry.
Sue enjoys volunteering and has enjoyed many different volunteer experiences prior to being a member of the Board of Directors of the local chapter of the HRPA. Sue is an avid cyclist and has participated in the 200 Km Ride to Conquer.
Rose De Luca, MIR Candidate, BHRM, CHRL
Council Volunteer
Rose is an accomplished Human Resources professional with over 25 years of experience across diverse industries. Currently completing her Master’s degree in Industrial Relations at Queen’s University, she also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and Labour Relations from Athabasca University and the Certified Human Resources Leader designation with the HRPA.
In her current role as Regional Director of Human Resources at Amica Senior Lifestyles, Rose manages the people strategy and plays a pivotal role in developing and leading national HR programs and policies.
Additionally, Rose is a part-time professor at Durham College, where she shares her expertise by teaching Human Resources courses. Her commitment to education underscores her passion for mentoring the next generation of HR professionals and shaping the future of the field through professional development and student engagement.
Deepak Sharma, Ph.D., CHRP., CTDP., CMBE.
Council Volunteer
Dr. Deepak Sharma is an Award-Winning Mentor, Strategic HR Leader, Certified Educator, L&D Specialist, and EDI Steward with over 30 + years of practical experience holding a Ph.D in Business Administration, in addition, he attained various professional designations. He has worked in executive roles in the military, corporate, and academics with a solid track record of creating strong cross-functional collaboration, respecting diversity, and clear strategic vision, driving for total alignment, and adapting to and embracing complexity.
Presently, Dr. Sharma is associated with various business schools for teaching assignments as a Professor at; Sheridan & Conestoga College, Algoma University, and Concordia University, Montreal.
In all his “extra” spare time, Dr. Sharma mentors new immigrants, professionals, and students at ACCES, TRIEC, I4PL, Fanshawe College, and United Way Toronto.
Viviane Wans, CHRE

A bilingual Certified HR Executive (CHRE) with extensive years of experience and responsible for the full HR cycle, with particular focus on employee attraction, retention and development.
Using technology to boost performance and drive efficiency.
Promoting a positive culture of recognition and rewarding top performers, while ensuring that diversity, equity and inclusion is maintained throughout the organization.
Sania Sanzgiri, CHRL, CHRP
Council Volunteer
As a HR Leader with over 15 years of experience, Sania excels in aligning workforce strategy with organizational goals and culture. Her HR expertise spans across Planning and Strategy, Cultural Alignment, Talent Management, Employee Experience & Relations.
With a MBA-HR and CHRL designation, Sania has successfully led various HR transformation projects. Recognized as an Emerging Leader and a Certified Course Leader in past HR roles, she is hands-on, has managed teams, and values collaboration for enhanced communication and productivity.
Since 2020, Sania has volunteered with HRPA West Toronto Chapter in Mentorship committee and co-facilitated sessions on Vision Board. She also volunteers with Swim Canada and was Co-Chair, Parent Council at Peel District School Board.
Sania’s strong character drives her self-development. She is an avid yoga practitioner and passionate dancer, and finds joy in physical well-being and self-expression.
Jorge Barros, CHRL

I am a senior HR professional. My background is from Portugal. I hold a master’s degree in HR management and solid work experience in HR with more than 15 years of experience in this field. I have held diverse HR roles throughout my career, including HR Manager, Consultant, and even HR College Teacher. These diverse roles have given me a well-rounded perspective on HR from both the organizational and academic angles.
I am passionate, resilient learner, improvement-focused, team-player, results-driven. On a personal note I am friendly, expressive and approachable.
Anjana Vasudevan, CHRL
Council Volunteer
Anjana is a passionate, Certified Human Resource Leader (CHRL) with over 10 years of progressive experience in Human resources. Anjana is a Business Management Graduate and holds a Masters Diploma in Business Administration. She has also earned a Human Resources Management certificate with high honors and currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Industrial Relations from Queen’s University.
Anjana has served on the Board of the HRPA Peel Chapter as Programs Chair since May 2017 and most recently was the Chair Elect for HRPA Peel Chapter. She is presently working at the City of Brampton as a Talent Acquisition Specialist and as an Adjunct Professor at Sheridan College.
Her key strengths lie in strong analytical problem solving, positive behavior and willingness to “learn, share and grow” attitude. Passion for the HR profession, love for the subject is what drives her to grow and contribute to the HR Fraternity.
Samena Brinkman, CHRP

Sam’s journey from a technical career and union activism to HR has equipped her with a unique blend of skills. As the founder of SBL People Solutions, she transforms cultures by eliminating ‘disengagement dragons’—barriers to engagement and productivity. Sam is passionate about making culture tangible and aligning it with organizational values. Her solutions are creative, actionable, and backed by data.
With an advanced diploma in Business Administration and HR, a CHRP designation, and certifications in design thinking and people analytics, Sam takes a data-driven, innovative approach to HR. Committed to fostering community and continuous learning, she led Scouts Canada programs for youth and adults and, as President of the HR Student Association, increased membership by 25% during a challenging virtual transition. Sam doesn’t shy away from tough conversations and is relentless in pursuing excellence and meaningful change.
