Welcome to the HRPA Central East Chapter
The Chapter Council act as ambassadors for the HRPA and the human resources (HR) profession, providing professional development opportunities, arranging networking and social events, hosting HR Power Lunch webinars, and facilitating ad-hoc volunteer opportunities. Chapter events provide members with the opportunity to develop skills and proficiencies, obtain CPD hours and build valuable connections with peers.
Chapter Councils also help promote and support HRPA initiatives such as the HRPA Mentorship Programs, HRPA Online Communities, HRPA Student activities and more. Council Chair
E’jaaz Mallick is a seasoned Human Resources Executive with a distinguished career in HR leadership, strategic advisory, and organizational transformation across diverse industries. With over a decade of experience, E’jaaz specializes in HR strategy, workforce planning, employee relations, talent development, and change management, driving measurable impact in dynamic business environments.
As Vice Chair of the HRPA Central East Council, E’jaaz is dedicated to elevating HR standards, fostering professional development, and shaping strategic HR initiatives that align with the evolving workforce landscape. His governance experience extends to serving as Board Director for HRPA’s York Region Chapter and contributing to various executive sub-committees, demonstrating his commitment to advancing the HR profession.
E’jaaz has led organization-wide HR modernization projects, including HR technology integrations, DEI initiatives, labor relations frameworks, and workforce transformation strategies, significantly improving operational efficiency, employee engagement, and leadership development. He is an advocate for progressive HR practices, leveraging data-driven insights and industry best practices to drive business excellence and workplace innovation.
Beyond his professional expertise, E’jaaz is a dedicated mentor in the HRPA’s and CPHR Canada’s mentorship program, actively guiding emerging HR professionals and supporting community-based HR initiatives. Recognized for his strategic leadership, governance acumen, and passion for empowering HR professionals, he continues to contribute to the HRPA’s mission of advancing the HR profession in Canada.
Holding multiple esteemed HR designations, including CHRP, CHRL, CHRE, CPHR, Chartered FCIPD, and SHRM-SCP, E’jaaz combines his global HR perspective with local industry expertise, positioning him as a thought leader in human capital strategy and people-driven business transformation.
Tammy Sergie, CHRP, CHRL, CHRE, SHRM-CP
Council Volunteer
Tammy Sergie is the Head of Human Resources at EHN Canada. Prior to EHN, Tammy was a Senior Human Resources Business Partner at Staples Inc. for over a decade, where she supported various parts of the business and its subsidiaries like HiTouch and Quill in both US and Canada. In her time with Staples, Tammy supported a number of high-profile acquisitions and led numerous critical integration projects. Over the course of her career, Tammy has worked in various HR leadership roles with known industry leaders like TELUS, Grand & Toy, OfficeMax, OpenText. Tammy is a graduate of University of Toronto with honors and is currently working on a specialization program with Harvard Business School. She holds an active certification by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing in Adult Mental Health First Aid USA and has recently completed a Labour Law program at York University – Osgoode Hall Law School.
Epi Mariano

Talent Development Champion with over a decade of experience in learning management, specializing in competency-based training, instructional design, and adult education. An Organizational Development and HR Management Strategist, leveraging data-driven insights to enhance internal communications and align employee experiences with the organization’s vision, mission, values, and goals.
Priyanka Singh
Council Volunteer
With over 6.5 years of experience in Human Resources Management, I am currently based in Oshawa, Ontario. I hold a Master’s degree in HR and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from India, and I’m actively pursuing my CHRP designation.
Throughout my career, I’ve held key HR roles in organizations such as the National Stock Exchange of India, where I’ve honed my expertise in Organizational Development, Performance Management, and HR Digitization. I am proficient in various HR technologies, including Darwinbox and Workday.
Recognized with awards like Employee of the Month and Ninja of the Month, I am passionate about continuous improvement and strategic HR management. My goal is to contribute meaningfully to business success through my HR initiatives.
Folasade Olajide, CHRL
Council Volunteer
Folasade Olajide is a Strategic HR Professional with expertise in talent acquisition, employee relations, and labor relations. She holds a Master’s degree in Labour Relations and an Advanced Labour Relations Certificate. Passionate about people and organizational growth, Fola brings a wealth of HR knowledge, leadership experience, and a strong commitment to advancing the HR profession within her community.
Lucy Darrah, CHRP
Council Volunteer
Lucy Darrah, CHRP, is an HR Manager for a leading global steel producer in Whitby. Lucy graduated from Western University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts before completing her Human Resources Management Certificate with Durham College in 2013.
She has worked in HR for over 10 years in multiple industries including aviation, entertainment and manufacturing. In her current role she supports 3 locations across Ontario and Quebec including both union and non-union employees. Lucy strives to be a collaborative and strategic business partner and source of knowledge and expertise in her field.
Outside of work she enjoys reading, and spending time with her family including her fur babies!
Shelley Barnett, MEd, CHRL, QMed
Council Volunteer
Shelley is a dedicated Human Resources Professional, Educator, Mediator, and Coach. She has held HR leadership roles and managed teams across Canada and Latin America with extensive experience in the financial services sector. She now channels her passion for supporting organizations, resolving conflicts, and leading training and development in private practice.
Shelley approaches every engagement through an educator’s lens-committed to helping individuals and organizations build cultures that foster learning, growth, and meaningful connection. As a part-time instructor at the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies, she continues to refine learn and share knowledge with adult learners.
Shelley has a Master’s degree in Adult Education and holds the CHRL and QMed designations. Outside of work, she enjoys time outdoors with family and friends, nurturing balance, resilience, and presence.
