Volunteering
Volunteering at HRPA is a rewarding membership experience and volunteers are critical to the association’s continued success.
With the expertise and involvement of members, we create awareness of workplace issues, promote excellence in human resources management practices and provide services that support the HR community, knowledge-sharing and continuous professional development.
HRPA members and students are involved in a variety of volunteer service opportunities including:

About Leadership

Trina Skagen, CHRP
Chapter Chair
Trina is the General Manager of Yes You Can Employment Consulting and Accessibility North. Her diverse background in Human Resources includes Employee Relations, Performance Management, Return to Work Strategies/Disability Management, Recruitment, Training, Change Management, Outplacement Services, Payroll, Benefit Administration, and Facilitation. Trina is working towards achieving her CHRL designation and also used to work for the HRPA Grand Valley Chapter in Kitchener.

Marisa Pecile Balgue, CHRP
Chapter Chair Elect
Marisa is currently employed as a Human Resources Officer at PUC Services Inc. Although this is a generalist role, her main responsibilities include Recruitment and Onboarding, Training and Development, and Employee Relations.

Lisa Salvini, CHRL
Chair, Chapter Student Liaison
Lisa has 20 years of diverse human resources and management experience. She has extensive hands-on experience leading HR initiatives including policy design, HR strategy, compensation, labour relations, performance management, job evaluation, recruiting, health and safety, training and development and succession planning.
Lisa is currently the Director of Human Resources for Algoma Family Services. Prior to joining Algoma Family Services, Lisa has held management level positions in a variety of industries including retail, wholesale, government and manufacturing. She is a Certified Compensation Professional and enjoys volunteering in the community. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, a Post Diploma in Human Resources and continues to seek opportunities to learn in her professional and personal life.

Devon Sanderson, CHRP
Chair, Chapter Communications
Devon is currently employed as a Human Resources Administrator at the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board where she oversees a broad range of HR functions within the board in a generalist capacity.
Devon obtained her Honours Bachelor of Business Administration with a specialization in Human Resources and minor in English from Algoma University in 2012 and spent the first seven years of her professional career working as an HR Generalist at her alma mater. While her experience spans all functional areas of HR, Devon is most passionate about exploring and leveraging technology to create new efficiencies in these core functions.
