Every day, HRPA is diligently monitoring the global COVID-19 pandemic. The situation is changing daily, and direction from health leaders and governments is rapidly evolving. To support all and mitigate the impact of COVID-19, HRPA has made to the way we operate and support public protection. We thank you for your understanding during this time that is anything but business as usual.


HRPA Office Closure

The HRPA Toronto office is currently closed. We remain committed to serving you and the HRPA team is working remotely to assist you, M-F, 8AM – 4:30PM ET. Please accept our apologies for any delays. At this time, HRPA is requesting payments to be paid via credit card or EFT.

Office of the Registrar

Renewals

Renewal remains open and available online. Due to COVID-19, we are requesting all dues be paid by credit card, as we are unable to process cheque payments during our office closure; and will be delayed to be processed until our office is reopened. For any assistance please contact renewal@hrpa.ca.

Registrants who are currently unemployed, on parental leave, on contract or retired may be eligible to apply for HRPA’s Renewal Dues Assistance Program (RDAP). For more details about the program including the application form, please click here.

Exams

Consistent with global efforts to mitigate the spread of the virus, HRPA has implemented a number of measures to help ensure the safety and well-being of our employees, registrants, exam candidates, stakeholders, and the extended community. We sincerely thank you for your patience during this time. To be fair to our exam candidates, decisions as to whether an exam administration would be cancelled need to be made well in advance of the scheduled date of the opening of the window.

HRPA has made the decision to cancel the Spring series of examinations. The CHRP and CHRL Employment Law Exams scheduled in May 2020 have been cancelled. The Comprehensive Knowledge Exam (CKE 1) scheduled for June 1 – 15, 2020 has been cancelled and Comprehensive Knowledge Exam (CKE 2) scheduled for June 22 - July 7, 2020 has been cancelled. A critical dependency is that the exams are delivered by Prometric. At this time, there were no guarantees that the exam sessions in the Spring would go ahead as the situation with COVID – 19 continues to evolve.

HRPA is dedicated to support exam candidates in their pursuit of the CHRP or CHRL designations with the least amount of disruptions as reasonably possible. HRPA is endeavoring to communicate any changes to the exam schedule to all those who may be directly impacted and is committed to keeping all exam candidates informed and up to date.

Spring Exam Refunds

HRPA will be refunding all examination candidates who have registered and paid for exams in full. HRPA is unable to hold or transfer your examination fees to the next sitting. You will be will required to register and pay for the Fall series of exams. If you have already purchased one of the exam preparation products, your subscription will be extended until the next administration of the exams in the Fall of 2020, at no cost to you.


CPD LOGS

HRPA recognizes that completing CPD logs by the May 31, 2020 deadline may be a concern; and have updated our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) extension policy, specifically regarding COVID-19.

 

Require and Extension?

For registrants who may require an extension for this CPD period, you may do so by completing the Continuing Professional Development Extension Request Form. This form must be completed and submitted to the Office of the Registrar. All extension requests must be submitted prior to the May 31, 2020 CPD deadline.


In addition to submitting the completed Extension Request Form, registrants requesting an extension to the CPD deadline must submit a completed log with the hours earned to date. For COVID-19 related extension requests, we are waiving the requirement to submit documentation in support of the request for an extension and a professional development plan outlining how the registrant intends to meet the outstanding CPD hours.

Completing Your CPD:

For information on your specific CPD cycle you can access your online CPD log through the dashboard of your user account, or you may contact an HRPA staff member in the Office of the Registrar at registrar@hrpa.ca.  

If you are due to submit your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) log by May 31, 2020, please submit your activities using the online CPD log that is accessible through your Dashboard.

  • Remember to ask yourself "Does this activity further my skills, competency, knowledge-base and abilities as an HR practitioner?" If the answer is 'Yes' and you can explain the connection, then the activity should be logged.
  • Review the CPD Handbook which provides instructions on how to access your online CPD Log and record your activities. This can be found on the HRPA website here.
  • Review the CPD Log Categories and Definitions document as it contains detailed information regarding the different activities that fall under each category, as well as how to calculate the appropriate CPD hours. This can be found on the HRPA website here.

  • Review the CPD online webinar titled: Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Requirement Explained. This webinar addresses how to maintain your CHRP, CHRL or CHRE designation through Continuing Professional Development, and will address the five CPD categories, how to assess if an activity qualifies for CPD, how to record and appropriately calculate CPD hours, and provide information about how to complete and submit your CPD log, and the steps to take if you are unable to meet your CPD requirement during your CPD cycle. HRPA Chapters

Chapter in-person events – cancelled until June 30, 2020

 

Your Chapter recognizes the value of local training to support you as a HR Professional.

Out of an abundance of caution, all HPRA Chapters will not host any in person events until after June 30, 2020.

Any event scheduled prior to April 6 are cancelled.

Attendees will be refunded, and we look forward to rescheduling.

 

Beginning April 6, 2020 – Professional Development Complimentary & Online Only

All of our Chapter events and programs will be hosted online and will be FREE for all HRPA members, beginning April 6, 2020 until June 30, 2020.

 

Chapter Online Learning Solutions

Our teams have been working diligently to prepare alternative virtual solutions to enable you to continue with your professional development and have prepared a suite of online options available currently through this link.
