Originally named the Northern Ontario Professionals Association (NOPA), we were founded in 1982 as a forum for local business people to discuss HR and the issues their companies were facing
In 1986 we underwent a name change when we joined forces with, and became a chapter of the Human Resource Professionals Association of Ontario (HRPAO).
As Human Resources evolved in the late 80s with the increase of formal labour laws and their enforcement, HR departments became more formalized within organizations and our membership grew steadily.
Today, 37 years after our original inception, HRPA-Sudbury is still committed to ensuring HR professionals in Sudbury and surrounding areas have both an advocate and a means of coming together as a group. Since our inauguration we've topped 200 members, and, like the region, we're still growing. HRPA-Sudbury Chapter services are designed to provide leadership, assistance and professional development to people working and studying in the field of Human Resources.
Our success is due to the participation of committed HR professionals like you and we hope you'll join us!
