Volunteering

Volunteering at HRPA is a rewarding membership experience and volunteers are critical to the association’s continued success.

With the expertise and involvement of members, we create awareness of workplace issues, promote excellence in human resources management practices and provide services that support the HR community, knowledge-sharing and continuous professional development.

Shelly Meadows, MBA, CPA

Chapter Chair

Shelly is a CHRP, MBA, CPA, and certified psychological health & safety advisor with executive-level experience and a passion for helping people and their organizations thrive.  Shelly co-founded Navigation Consulting & Training (NavCT), to support healthy work environments as a business imperative for organizational success through strategic HR consulting, training & development, and workplace harassment investigations.  Beyond work, Shelly enjoys sailing, squash, and random acts of kindness.

Jorden Bartlett
Jorden Bartlett

Chair Elect

Jorden Bartlett – Chair, Chapter Programs (picture attached)

As a People and Culture Leader, Jorden has more than 20 years of experience creating and introducing unique people programs. She enjoys building teams and watching team members learn, grow, and develop.

Jorden’s experience runs across several industries including compressed gas, shredding, policing, engineering projects, audiobooks, software, and telematics. She particularly enjoys developing programs, creating performance management systems, and training and development.

Jorden’s educational background includes a BA from Western University, a Human Resources Certificate from Sheridan, and an in-progress MBA from the University of Fredericton. She holds her CHRL with the HRPA.

Chair, Chapter Communications

Sofia is a Human Resources professional with more than 5 years of experience in a variety of industries such as Oil & Gas, Banking and Real Estate. She holds a Masters Degree in Industrial Relations and Human Resources from the University of Toronto and a Bachelors Degree in Human Resources Management from Humber College. Sofia also holds a CHRL designation.

Sofia has volunteered at the HRPA Halton Chapter since 2014 in the Communications Committee, Registration Table and most recently as the Membership Chair on the Halton Chapter Board of Directors where she served a 2-year term.

After a short break, Sofia is excited to return to the board and add value through her contributions. She enjoys networking, learning and making an impact by giving back to the community.

Charlie Guy, CHRE

Chair, Chapter Student Liaison

Charlie is a Human Resources professional (CHRE) with over 40 years experience in senior and executive leadership roles extending across a variety of sectors from telecommunication to not for profit.

After having retired in 2018 as Chief People Officer of World Vision Canada, Charlie now dedicates his time to serving organizations and leaders to advance their People & Culture priorities and professional development. Charlie has a strong sense of commitment to personal values of integrity, excellence, and continuous improvement. He has cultivated a solid reputation for mentoring and coaching young leaders up to C-suite executives. His coaching has focused on team building, leadership development and career transition, and he takes a modern, inclusive and human approach to supporting clients with strategic HR solutions.

Yossef Elbromboly
Yossef ElBromboly

Chapter Secretary/ Treasurer

Yossef ElBromboly is a senior HR professional with more than 13 years of experience in Human Resources within different industries. He got his Bachelor degree in Pharmacy, Master’s degree in Human Resources (MBA) and he holds a CHRL designation. He is currently a Sr HRBP at one of the global pharmaceutical companies in the world also he was the HR integration lead during one of the biggest mergers in the global pharmaceutical industry. He has extensive experience in managing HR in large and diversified organizations with expertise in stakeholder and program management. Yossef is pleasured to serve as the Halton Chapter secretary/treasurer where he is serving a two years term.

Rana Al Semaani

Chair, Chapter Mentorship

Completed the Master of Industrial Relations and Human Resources program at University of Toronto in 2021. Have been teaching Human Resources Management course at Ryerson University since 2020 and currently working as a Talent Acquisition Business Partner at Public Label Agency.

With more than 15 years of experience in HR, I started my HR career at Emirates Airlines, an international airline with a diverse workforce of more than 50,000 employees. I specialized in talent acquisition and management to support and accommodate the airline’s growth. Following that, I took on various HR roles including HR Business Partner, HR Manager and I worked on different HR and change management projects including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in different industries.

I am specialised in talent acquisition, developing of human capital, setting performance management systems, aligning organizational goals with departmental and individual goals, implementing strategic initiatives and facilitating change.

My social responsibility includes 3-year term volunteer work with the Burlington Inclusivity Advisory Committee (BIAC), that advises the City of Burlington on issues of diversity and social inclusion. Moreover, I served as a social member in the Canadian Navy Veteran Association and have been participating in the Joseph Brant Diversity and Inclusion Action Table.

I have been a HRPA member for several years, certified by SHRM and have been serving the Halton HRPA for a year. In my free time, I enjoy outdoors activities, travelling, meeting people and socializing and baking.

Chair, Chapter Programs

For the past 7 years, I worked directly with students at McMaster University and York University to improve their career outcomes. I design and lead workshops, facilitate guest speakers and panel discussions, organize networking events, coach students 1 on 1 and manage special projects in process improvement. Before working in Higher Education, I gained 15 years’ experience across industries – Fortune 500, Professional Services, Financial Services, Construction, and Engineering Consulting. I left Higher Ed and moved to the Ed-tech industry for eight months last year.

I completed my BBA from Schulich School of Business, York University, followed by my CHRP, CHRL, then MBA from University of Warwick and I obtained my Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential from International Coaching Federation. I thrive on continuous learning and plan on pursuing a Certificate in Adult Education next.

I have volunteered in the past with HRPA on the following committees: Publicity, Student Liaison, Volunteers Recruitment and was a Mentor as well. For the past three years, I volunteered with my older son’s rep hockey team managing their budget and finances as Treasurer. I enjoy getting involved and taking on opportunities that allow me to grow, develop, lead and collaborate with others.
