HRPA is pleased to announce its 2nd Annual Student Case Competition! Back by popular demand, this one-day event will engage the best and brightest upcoming HR leaders and professionals and challenge them to tackle real-life business and HR situations. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for students who want to: 

  • Apply their classroom knowledge to a real-life business scenario 
  • Upgrade their resume with impressive and relevant experiences 
  • Get valuable, constructive feedback directly from a panel of Senior HR Professionals 

This event will be held on March 21st, 2020 at George Brown Waterfront Campus – 51 Dockside Dr., Toronto ON, M5A 1B6 


What you can expect: 



Participating students will be presented with an HR business case on the day of the Case Competition. As a team, they will have 2 hours to read and analyze the case, develop response strategy, and produce a 20-minute presentation with their team’s recommendations. A panel of judges, comprised of Senior HR Professionals, will review and score the presentations based on a point system. 

The top three teams with the strongest presentations will be awarded first, second, and third place prizes. In addition, the top-scoring team will have their school’s name engraved on the HR Business Excellence trophy and get to keep and proudly display the trophy at their school until the next annual competition. 

 

How to register: 

To participate in this event, please contact us at sac@hrpatoronto.ca to obtain and submit a registration form. Each school will be responsible for selecting a single team consisting of up to 5 HR students, who will then represent them in the competition.  

There are no registration fees required – however, please note that teams will be selected on a first-come first-serve basis, so we encourage you to submit your registration form as soon as possible. Any changes to participating teams must be submitted before February 15, 2020.

Recap: 2019 HR Case Competition 

HRPA held its first Annual HR Student Case Competition on Saturday, March 23rd, hosted by the Toronto Chapter at George Brown College.  The Case Competition brought together enthusiastic students who flexed their knowledge by applying it to real scenarios brought forward from the following eight Ontario Universities and Colleges: Centennial College, George Brown College, McMaster University, Ryerson, Seneca College, Sheridan College, University of Windsor, and Wilfrid Laurier University. 

Congratulations to all the following 2019 HR Student Case Competition winners: 

1st place: University of Windsor  

Represented by: Emily Katherine Teetzel, Samantha Marasco de Man, Lindsay Ye and Rashed Bin Najib. Congratulations on this great achievement!   
 

2nd place: Wilfrid Laurier University 

Represented by: Dina GjaferiShaylyn Keyes, Marnie McCormac, Julie Ya, and Anakin (Yu-Le) Zhou. 

3rd place: Centennial College 

Represented by: Levie Marilao, Patrick Jeanes, Maria Dyan Jennica CamanagShermaine Confesor, and Ha Chan Nhu (Naomi) Troung.

Application Deadline for the universities and colleges is Saturday, February 15.


The Team Selection

Each school is responsible for choosing five students they believe to be most suitable to compete in the HR Case Competition. There will be up to 10 schools participating for 2020.
