At the Human Resources Professionals Association, we believe that better HR makes business better. Our goal is to ensure human resources professionals are recognized as an essential part of business success, and that our profession is as valued by organizations as those of other major professional associations.

Volunteering

Volunteering at HRPA is a rewarding membership experience and volunteers are critical to the association’s continued success.

With the expertise and involvement of members, we create awareness of workplace issues, promote excellence in human resources management practices and provide services that support the HR community, knowledge-sharing and continuous professional development.

HRPA members and students are involved in a variety of volunteer service opportunities including:

lyndsay-doran
Lyndsay Doran, CHRP

Chapter Chair

Lyndsay graduated from the Human Resources program at Lambton College in 2011 and obtained her Bachelor of Human Resources and Labour Relations through Athabasca University in 2019.  She has worked in various HR roles for over 12 years within the public and broader public sectors, focusing on job evaluation, compensation, and data analytics. She currently works as an HR Generalist with the University of Guelph at the Ridgetown Campus. Lyndsay achieved her CHRP in 2015. She has been volunteering with the HRPA Sarnia and District Chapter since 2019 and has filled the roles of Secretary/Treasurer and Chapter Chair.  Lyndsay enjoys the opportunity to connect with other local HR professionals and contribute to the HRPA’s membership through her role on the local board.

Alexandra Pearce
Alexandra Pearce

Chapter Chair Elect

Alexandra graduated from the University of Guelph with a Major in Psychology and Minor in Family and Child Studies and holds a diploma in Human Resource Management from McMaster University. After a few years in recruitment centered roles, she obtained her CHRP and is currently Human Resources Coordinator at Lambton County Developmental Services. Alexandra began volunteering with the HRPA’s Sarnia and District Chapter as communications support in 2021.

Juliana Marentette-Brown
Juliana Marentette-Brown, CHRP

Secretary/Treasurer

Juliana is a graduate of Brock University with a Bachelor degree in Child & Youth Studies as well as a Bachelor of Education degree. After working as a teacher for a few years, she decided to pursue the human resource profession and enrolled in the Post-Graduate Program at Lambton College which she graduated from and then attained her CHRP. Juliana held a few roles in the HR field prior to joining Bluewater Health in Sarnia where she is currently employed. Juliana was a previous HRPA Sarnia & District Chapter programs committee volunteer and is now taking on the larger role of Secretary-Treasurer on the Chapter board. In her spare time Juliana enjoys gaming, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends.

Susan Paulley

Chair, Chapter Programs

Susan has been in Human Resource for over 30 years partnering with Senior Leadership to provide insight and knowledge relating to legislation and HR best practices. She has worked mainly in non-profit in Health Care and Human Services but also spent a few years in manufacturing. She was employed by St Clair College on a part time basis and has taught many of the courses needed for the HR diploma. Learning and development is a passion she will bring to her new role as Program Chair.

Hello, I’m Shereen, an aspiring HR professional with an MBA in HR and currently preparing for the CHRP exam. I am currently working as an HR Manager at John Howard Society Ontario, where I have the privilege of making a positive impact on individuals’ lives. Helping others succeed through my role brings me great fulfillment and fuels my passion for this profession. Although I am relatively new to this career, I approach it with unwavering enthusiasm and a strong desire to continuously learn and grow. In addition to my work in HR, I am also a published children’s author. Writing books for children is both a hobby and a form of social work that brings me immense joy. There is no work more rewarding than educating underprivileged kids. I am deeply passionate about what I do, and the satisfaction I derive from it is unparalleled.

Melanie has proudly worked as an HR professional for over 10 years in a multitude of capacities including but not limited to Compensation & Payroll Specialist, Employment Consultant, HR Assistant, HR Coordinator, HR Manager with a recent promotion to a corporate/provincial HR Manager role. She takes pride in her career and thrive on supporting others in the workplace.
