Volunteering

Volunteering at HRPA is a rewarding membership experience and volunteers are critical to the association’s continued success.

With the expertise and involvement of members, we create awareness of workplace issues, promote excellence in human resources management practices and provide services that support the HR community, knowledge-sharing and continuous professional development.

Appel Maracle, BA.H, B.Ed, M.Ed, CHRL

Chapter Chair

Appel entered into the HR profession after being a secondary school teacher for just over 10 years. Spending now 10 years in the HR profession she has experience in the nine functional areas of the Human Resources Professional Competency Framework. She holds undergraduate degrees from Queen’s University, a master’s degree from the University of Melbourne and completed the Human Resources Certificate through Loyalist College. Appel is passionate about supporting people who live and work in the community, loves to continually learn and focus on improvement initiatives.

Pamela Massicotte

Chapter Past Chair

Pam has worked in the HR profession for 18+ years. Throughout this time, she has been involved in recruitment, HR planning and most recently, ​behavioural assessments.

In addition to her CHRL, Pam is a CPA, CMA and she has a degree from the University of Toronto with majors in Commerce & Economics.

Pam has served on the Quinte and District Chapter Board for the last two years and she enjoys meeting our membership at our regularly scheduled events.

Over the years, Pam has been involved in the local community and has been a volunteer with Belleville Minor Hockey as well as Girl Guides of Canada. She also was the Chair-CMA, Mideastern District for a number of years.

Marlie Fortier
Marlie Fortier, CHRP

Chair, Chapter Programs

Marlie has been a member of the HRPA since 2017. Working in the HR Profession for over six years, Marlie has worked in various environments from automotive, community support, retail and higher education. She has worked in non-union and unionized organizations and held positions such as HR Generalist and HR Manager.

Marlie achieved her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in Legal Studies from Ontario Tech University and a graduate certificate in Human Resources Management from Durham College.

Joining the Quinte & District Board in 2022, Marlie is excited to continue networking with HR Professionals in the area and bringing them engaging and fulfilling HR Professional Development opportunities.

Michelle Michaud, CHRL

Chair, Chapter Communications

Michelle has her Honours Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University and a graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management from Loyalist College. With over 9 years’ of experience working in human resources Michelle has worked in both the private and public sector and currently is employed with the City of Quinte West as a Human Resources Generalist. Michelle is involved in all areas of Human Resources but has a strong background in recruitment and employee relations. Michelle also sits on the Program Advisory Committee for the Human Resources Management program at Loyalist College.

Michelle has lived in Quinte West for over 20 years and is passionate about learning and community involvement. Michelle has been on the board for almost 10 years and was previously in the position of Secretary.

Kerry Halliwell
Kerry Halliwell, BSc, CHRP

Secretary/Treasurer

After receiving my Bachelor’s of Science in Statistics and Applied Mathematics, I married and headed to Africa to work as the finance manager for a famine aid and drought relief project. This kept me in Africa for over 20 years working in various capacities in a developing nation. Upon returning to Canada, I completed my Human Resources Management certificate and CHRP designation and have been the Managing Director of Operations in the charity sector for almost 10 years. I’m looking forward to serving in the Quinte and District Chapter of the HRPA now that I have settled in the beautiful city of Brighton, Ontario.

Karli Pace

Director Programs and Communications

After working as a Certified Level II Dental Assistant, Karli recently completed an advanced three-year diploma program in Business Administration-Human Resources with honours at Durham College. Her studies led her to the healthcare field, where she now works as a Human Resources Administrator at Quinte Health. Karli is also working towards obtaining the CHRP designation and is currently living in Northumberland County, with future plans to move closer to Quinte West. Karli has a deep appreciation for acquiring new knowledge and is enthusiastic about advancing her personal development while embodying kindness. With a passion for her new career path, she looks forward to seeing where her journey takes her in the field of Human Resources.

Chair, Chapter Student Liaison

Dottie is the new member of the board of directors in the Quinte& District Chapter Board in 2023.

She holds a Master degree of management – Human Resources Management and graduated University of Windsor. Dottie is a Certified Human Resources Professional and she works for Agrirecruiting as a recruiting consultant and RBC bank as an advisor. She is looking forward to working with the team in the Quinte Region and contribute her experience and time towards the HRPA.
