HRPA re-introduces professional experience requirement for CHRP
NPPA to be phased out in favour of experience assessment
The Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) has reintroduced a requirement of three years of experience in human resources at a professional level as a prerequisite for attainment of the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation in Ontario. Following the October 2009 and May 2010 sittings, the NPPA will be replaced by a mandatory experience assessment by HRPA’s Certification Committee.

Bill 14 Information
On May 1st, 2007, the Law Society became responsible for regulating the paralegal profession in Ontario, as a result of amendments to the Law Society Act (“Act”) contained in Bill 14, Access to Justice Act. Under provisions in the Act, some activities currently done by HR Professionals may be seen as providing legal services and thus would be subject to the Law Society’s regulative, investigative and disciplinary authority as part of the new paralegals licensing regime.

The registration for the National Exams, both the NKE and the NPPA for October 3, 2009 sitting is
now closed
. HRPA is no longer accepting applications.
Online Notification of Exam Results
The online notification of exam results went without a hitch.The Education Records section of the member profile page can only provide for the total score.
For exam-writers who did not achieve passing scores, a breakdown of the total score will be sent by email within the next few days.
Manual rescoring of exams is available upon request to HRPA’s Office of the Registrar. The cost of a manual rescore is $25 for the NKE and $75 for the NPPA.
