In partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), this two-day program focuses on the primary skills that professionals need to be successful in their role as HR Business Partners in their organization. Making the transition to this role requires HR professionals to develop or enhance their skills in key areas so that they are able to perform effectively and be seen by line executives, managers and employees as a critical partner to the business. This may mean a fundamental shift in the way the HR interacts with line executives. It also means HR professionals will need to learn more about how the business operates, how to build and present an effective business case and how HR can maximize its value to the organization.

Angela Alper, SPHR – Principal Consultant
Angela Alper is an accomplished HR leader and consultant with broad expertise across the Human Capital spectrum. With proven results in enterprise-wide change management, talent strategy, talent acquisition and HR transformation, Angela helps companies achieve superior results. She specializes in helping organizations and individuals grow their talent management, organizational change, communication and process improvement capabilities with a focus on ways to maximize the impact of the business, the employees and the HR practice. Her goal is to create solutions that are innovative, pragmatic, data-driven and effectively integrated within the broader organization.
Angela’s 18 years of experience with Chubb Insurance span roles directing Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Change Management, Employee Relations, HR Generalist roles and Operations.
As a leader at Chubb, a successful Fortune 500 property and casualty insurance company, she created and executed strategic initiatives that were on target, successfully gained stakeholder support and sustained organization-wide acceptance. Under her direction, the organization developed a competency-based process for talent decisions; implemented a standardized selection process; refined and simplified the performance management process; and instituted enterprise-wide manager span of control.
Her work transforming HR services and its supporting technology included the analysis and reorganization of HR, Recruiting reorganization/outsourcing and the transition to employee and manager self-service. Technology implementations included the rollout of an HR portal with technology supporting the areas of self-service, recruiting, annual enrollment, learning, performance management and compensation.
Prior to her home office experience, Angela served as an HR Generalist, Employee Relations Specialist and Operations Supervisor for various locations throughout the southeast with Chubb. Through these roles, Angela gained expertise on the ins-and-outs of running a business, the focus and priorities of being in a profit center, hands-on people management skills and the art of balancing competing priorities. She consulted with managers and executives to create and execute staffing plans, find and develop the right talent for key positions and to create and deliver learning and development opportunities.
Angela holds a BA in Communication from Mississippi State University and an MA in Organizational Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She holds the Senior Professional HR designation and is certified in Leadership Coaching, Consulting Skills and Myers-Briggs facilitation.
