Establishing Effective Relationships with Third Party Independent Contractors

Hiring an independent compensation advisor to the board has become a normal part of business today, especially for publicly traded organizations.  Unfortunately, the definition of an independent model often varies from company to company and can result in misaligned advice between executive vs management compensation.  This webinar looks at a few of the various independent consulting models and helps the role of HR to examine which will lead to the best desired outcome for the organization while appropriately serving the needs of the board.

  • Common challenges faced by HR when an independent compensation advisor to the board has been selected;
  • Useful ways to create an alignment between the independent advisor's work and management’s work; and
  • How HR can leverage the opportunity to collaborate with the independent advisor and build a stronger relationship with the Chair of the Compensation Committee and other committee members.

About the presenter: Paul Gryglewicz

Mr. Gryglewicz is the Senior Partner at Global Governance Advisors and a key member of  the firm's Senior Leadership Team. He engages with Boards and senior management advising them in the areas of executive compensation, human resource strategy and corporate governance. Paul's work incorporates leading edge governance practices, mitigates risk and educates key stakeholders on sophisticated compensation systems.

Paul was previously a Senior Consultant in Hay Group's Executive Compensation practice, focused on advising clients nationally, primarily within the real estate, pension fund and investment management industries.                                          

Paul is an MBA graduate and Athletic Scholar from the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Management Economics in Industry and Finance from the University of Guelph.
