Dealing with Spam Email

If you ever receive email from a sender that you do not wish to receive email from, or whom you believe has obtained your email information without your authorization, you can block receipt of future mail from that sender. Look below for the email program you use and follow the directions.

Outlook 2003/2007

  • Right Click on the senders name and click “Junk E-mail > Add Sender to Blocked Senders List”

Outlook 2010

  • Right Click on the senders name and click “Junk > Block Sender”

Hotmail

  • Select "Options | More Options..." from the Windows Live "Hotmail toolbar". 
  • Follow the "Safe and blocked senders" link under "Preventing Junk e-mail".
  • Now click "Blocked senders". 
  • Type the undesired email address under "Blocked e-mail address or domain".
  • Enter the email address you would like to block.
  • Click "Add to list".

Yahoo

  • Select "Options | Mail Options..." in Yahoo! Mail. 
  • Go to the "Spam" category. 
  • Type the unwanted email address under "Add a blocked address".
  • Click "Add". 
  • Now click "Save Changes".

Gmail

  • Follow the "Create a filter" link (at the top of any Gmail mailbox, near the search buttons).
  • Type the desired email address under "From".
  • You can block an entire domain by entering just that. To block all mail from both natsuko@example.com and pjotr@example.com, type "@example.com". 
  • Click "Next Step". 
  • Make sure "Delete it" is checked under "Choose action". 
  • Click "Create Filter".
