HRPA has the responsibility of regulating and governing the conduct of its members in the practice of their profession through the members’ adherence to the Rules of Professional Conduct and standards of practice.
At HRPA, the complaints and investigations process and the discipline process are two related but distinct processes that ensure that serious concerns about the conduct of members are brought to HRPA’s attention, are properly investigated and are appropriately resolved. They are key to HRPA’s mandate to regulate members in the public interest.
The mandate of the Discipline Committee is to hear allegations of professional misconduct, incompetence or incapacity referred to it from the Complaints and Investigation Committee, deliberate on those matters and apply the appropriate and just remedy to the member who is the subject of the allegation(s).
