First steps to a successful HR career
Why should a student choose a career in human resources? Many reasons. HR is one of the most interesting business functions—you get to shape business direction and success, lead talent management, create organizational culture, design leading-edge human capital programs and even steward sustainability.
How can you ensure you are receiving the most up-to-date information and news on the latest trends within the HR profession? How can you gain access to professional resources to help you in your HR studies and allow you to network with future employers?
Join HRPA as a student member. Next time we're on campus, be sure to attend our HRPA student presentation and take advantage of our $85.00 + Taxes Student Membership special offer.

Student Development
HRPA student membership is the start of a career-long commitment to learning. The association makes it easy to stay ahead of the curve—right from the beginning.
Networking: The association offers many networking opportunities—at both the association and chapter level—for the HR student. Get to know HR veterans at conferences or meet local professionals at chapter meetings—HRPA membership is a great way to connect with HR leaders and make contacts with future employers.
Mentoring: Many chapters feature mentoring programs linking experienced HR practitioners with students. Mentoring is a great way to gain practical guidance on your HR career. Contact your local chapter to find out more.
Volunteer Opportunities: Students can volunteer at our annual conference, at one of many chapter events or on a committee—there’s no better way to gain valuable experience.
Education Resources: HRPA’s Resource Centre has an extensive library of management and HR-related books and professional journals to help you with class projects and aid your studies.
Plus, the Resource Centre’s research team assists students with information requests. An exclusive service to members, submit your request and receive a report with extracts on the best and most current information.
Leadership Opportunities
HRPA is committed to supporting both the personal and professional development of its members. HRPA members are encouraged to participate within their local chapter committees; you can advance to Chair or Director Positions, and potentially to the HRPA Board of Directors. These opportunities allow you to build your leadership skills within a supportive environment, skills that can easily be applied in the workplace as you advance in your career.
