Renew your 2010/2011 HRPA Membership

Rules and Regulations

1. To enter the HRPA Membership Renewal Contest (the “Contest”) simply renew your membership between January 27, 2010 and May 31, 2010. The earlier you renew, the more times your name will be entered into the draw for approximately 100 prizes.

i. HRPA will award 18 weekly Grand Prize trips for two to Las Vegas, including airfare and accommodation for two (2) nights. A Special Conference bonus trip will be awarded to those who renew their membership at the HRPA booth in person during HRPA’s 2010 Annual Conference & Trade Show (January 27, 2010 to January 29, 2010, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre).  Along with the weekly grand prize, we will also have monthly and weekly prize draws and an end of contest bonus prize.

ii. Mailed renewals will be entered according to the postmark date on the envelope and must be postmarked no later than May 31, 2010 to be eligible. Online renewals will be entered according to the server’s transaction date stamp and must be transacted no later than 11:59:59 PM on May 31, 2010, to be eligible. Winners will be drawn at random.  All  Prize draws will be held every Tuesday, starting February 2, 2010 and ending June 1, 2010 at the HRPA office at 2 Bloor Street West, Toronto, Ontario (“HRPA”) and announced by email and posted on the HRPA.ca website after the draw. The Special Conference bonus trip draw will be held on January 29, 2010 and winner will be announced at the closing keynote session of HRPA’s 2010 Annual Conference & Trade Show. End of contest bonus draw will be held on June 1, 2010 and announced by email and posted on the HRPA.ca website.

iii. Weekly Prizes – You will be eligible to win Weekly Prizes for the week you renew and for every following week until the end of the Contest or until you win a Weekly Prize, whichever comes first. Entries for Weekly Prize draws are those entered from the website according to the server’s transaction date stamp or postmarked from 12:00 AM Monday to 11:59:59 PM Sunday. Winners for each prize will be drawn at random the following Tuesday at HRPA and announced on Wednesday by email and posted on the HRPA.ca website. Non-winners of individual prizes will remain eligible to win in following weeks.

iv. Monthly Prizes – You will be eligible to win Monthly Prizes for the month you renew and for every following month until the end of the Contest or until you win a Monthly Prize, whichever comes first. Entries for Monthly

v. Prize draws are those entered from the website according to the server’s transaction date stamp or postmarked from 12:00 AM the first day of the month to 11:59:59 PM the last day of the month. Winners for each prize will be drawn at random the first Tuesday of each month at HRPA and announced the first Wednesday by email and posted on the HRPA.ca website. Non-winners of individual prizes will remain eligible to win for the remainder of the contest period.

vi. Void where prohibited.

2. The contest sponsor is the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) (hereinafter referred to as “Contest Sponsor”).

3. To enter and to be eligible to win, entrants must be current members who are either: CHRPs, Practitioners, Generalists, Part-time students. Full-time students, retired, and honorary members are not eligible to enter.

4. Prizes must be accepted as awarded. The Prizes may not be sold, transferred and are not convertible to cash. Prize winner is solely responsible for all costs not expressly described herein.

i. Weekly Las Vegas Grand Prize trip – two (2) nights package consists of all air and hotel accommodation for two (2) persons to and from Toronto ONLY. The packages including air and hotel accommodation has no cash value. Weekly Las Vegas Grand Prize and Conference bonus trip winners and his/her travelling companion are solely responsible for all costs not expressly described herein including, without limitation, applicable taxes, beverages, room service, gratuities, merchandise, telephone calls, local transportation, insurance together with any required travel documentation, and all personal expenses of any kind or nature, together with any applicable overnight layover not described herein. Departure dates and hotel accommodation reservations will be arranged by the winner. Upgrades or for any additional travelers (such as children) are solely the responsibility of the winner. It is recommended that all Las Vegas Prize winners and his/her travelling companion obtain sufficient personal insurance prior to departure.

ii. End of Contest  Bonus Prize - One (1) subscription to Consult Carswell: Human Resources– limitations: 1) Valid only for a new subscription to Consult Carswell from June 15, 2010 to June 15, 2011, or shorter term to a maximum value of $3,000 (value to be established based on the number of employees in the organization). 2) Not to be used in the commission of fee-based consulting services.  Approximate retail value of “Bonus Prize” is Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000).

iii. Monthly prizes - (4 monthly draws)

A. One Payscale five-pack salary survey (value $450)
B. One web subscription to HRdownloads ( value $395).
C. One 12-month subscription to your choice of First Reference’s product HR Policy Pro, HR Advisor, HRinfodesk (value up to $356)
D. One 12-month subscription to getAbstract (value $254)

iv. Weekly Prizes - (eighteen weekly draws)

A. One trip for two to Las Vegas, including airfare and accommodations for two nights. Toronto departures only
B. One Year paid 2010-2011 HRPA Memberships (Value of $430)
C. One 12-month-family subscription to Best Doctors (value $180)
D. One 12-month subscription (22 issues) to Canadian HR Reporter (value $169). Limited to new subscriptions only. Current & Critical Issues in HR Management: The Canadian HR Reporter White Paper Series will be substituted to winner(s) who is already a subscriber to Canadian HR Reporter.
E. One Free HRPA webinar (value $49)

5. The odds of winning a Prize will depend upon the total number of eligible entries received during the Contest Period. HRPA, acting reasonably, will attempt to contact potential winners by telephone within three (3) business days after the draw. In the event the potential winner cannot be contacted within five (5) business days after the draw, he or she will be disqualified and an alternate potential winner will be drawn. Proof of identification must be provided upon request. Before being awarded a Prize, potential winner and each potential winner’s travelling companion, as applicable, will be required to sign and return, within the time stipulated by the Contest Sponsor, a full release and indemnity form stating that he/she has read and understood these official rules and regulations (“Rules”), grants all consents required, authorizes the Contest Sponsor  to broadcast, publish and disseminate his/her name, city of residence, photograph, likeness, sobriquet and voice, in connection with any promotion or publicity, and/or for general news, entertainment and information purposes at no additional compensation to the potential winner and/or traveling companion, beyond the awarding of or participation in the Prize, accepts the Prize as offered and releases the Contest Sponsor from any and all liability of any kind arising out of the potential winner’s and each potential winner’s travelling companion, as applicable, participation in this Contest and receipt and use of the Prize. In the event that the potential winner and/or travelling companion, as applicable, do not comply with all the provisions as contemplated in these Rules, Contest Sponsor shall have the right to disqualify potential winner and/or travelling companion, and draw an alternate potential winner and travelling companion and the Contest Sponsor shall be fully and completely released and discharged from any liability or responsibility in this regard. The provisions and procedures referred to above relating to selection and notification of a potential winner and/or travelling companion, if applicable, shall be applied, with the necessary amendments, until a qualified winner and/or traveling companion have been duly selected.

6. By entering this Contest, the entrants and participants automatically agree to accept and abide by these Rules. All decisions of the Contest Sponsor with respect to any aspect of this Contest, including without limitation the eligibility of entries, are final and binding on all entrants in all matters as they relate to this Contest.

7. All entries become property of Contest Sponsor who assumes no responsibility for garbled, lost, late, delayed, destroyed or misdirected mail, voice messages, e-mail or any computer errors or malfunctions. Contest Sponsor does not assume any responsibility for incorrect or inaccurate capture of entry information, technical malfunctions, human or technical error, seeding or printing errors, lost, delayed or garbled data or transmissions, omission, interruption, deletion, defect or failures of any telephone or computer line or network, computer equipment, software or any combination thereof. Entry materials-data that have been tampered with or altered are void. If for any reason, in the opinion of the Contest Sponsor, in its sole discretion, the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned, or if the administration, security, fairness, integrity or the proper conduct of the Contest is corrupted or adversely affected, including by reason of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond their control, Contest Sponsor reserves its right to cancel, terminate, modify, amend, extend or suspend the Contest including canceling any method of entry, and select a winner from previously received eligible entries. Contest Sponsor reserves their right to modify the Rules without materially affecting the terms and conditions hereof. The Contest Sponsor reserves the right in sole discretion to disqualify any individual they find to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of the Rules or otherwise in a disruptive manner. Contest Sponsor in its sole discretion, further reserves the right to terminate the online portion, as applicable, of the Contest and conduct the drawing from all online entries and all other entries (as applicable) previously received during the Contest Period. Any attempts to deliberately damage the Contest Sponsor’s website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made the Contest Sponsor reserves its right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent of the law. The Contest Sponsor shall not be held responsible for any errors or negligence that may arise or occur in connection with the Contest including any damage to an entrant’s computer equipment, system, software or any combination thereof, as a result of their participation in this Contest or from downloading any material from the Contest Sponsor’s website, where applicable.

8. Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. By entering this Contest, each entrant consents to the collection, use and distribution of his or her personal information (information that identifies an entrant as an individual, such as home telephone number, age and home address) by the Contest Sponsor for the purposes of implementing, administering and fulfilling this Contest. The Contest Sponsor will not sell or transmit this information to third parties except for the purposes of administering this Contest. Any inquiry concerning the personal information held by the Contest Sponsor should be addressed to HRPA at 1902-2 Bloor Street West, Toronto, Ontario, M4W 3E2.

9. This contest is open only to eligible HRPA members residing in Ontario.
