President and Treasurer - Irene Wilson, CHRP

 Irene has a wide range of experienceboth in the private and public sector. Irene's experience ranges from senior Human Resources management positions to providing advisory services as a consultant. Irene's focus in HR has been on building the HR function and its integration into, and delivery of, the business strategy, while her focus in Business Process Improvement has been on transformational initiatives through a Lean Six Sigma perspective. In addition to her CHRP designation Irene holds an MBA from Laurier, is a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and a Certified Management Accountant.


Secretary - Melanie Kerr, CHRP

A senior HR professional with 15 years of experience, Melanie has built and led teams within the HR function and has worked in the professional services, high-tech and automotive industries. Melanie has worked in both Canada and the United States.

Melanie is presently a Senior Manager, Human Resource Services at KPMG, a Canadian leader in delivering audit, tax, and advisory services in 32 locations across Canada. Melanie has oversight for the Human Resource Service Centre which includes Employee Relations, Employee Care and Mobility Support. At KPMG, she has also held roles as a Human Resource Business Partner and in Recruitment.

Melanie completed the Advanced Program in Human Resources Management (APHRM) at Rotman School of Management and is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario.


Membership Director - Maia Jones

Maia currently works as an Office Manager for Sigma Designs Technology Canada, a developer of highly-integrated System-on-a-Chip semiconductors. Prior to getting into the private sector, Maia spent 10 years working for the Ontario government, and has a long history of involvement in politics at the provincial and federal levels. Maia also has membership experience from serving on various riding and political associations.

Maia is currently working part-time towards her CHRP designation at Humber College.


Communications Director - Pam Ross, BA, CHRP

Pam’s business experience spans hospitality operations management and all areas of HR. Recent roles include Manager of Total Rewards and National Manager of People Development at Cara Operations.

She recently started her own company, Pam Ross Consulting.  As the Chief Experience Officer, Pam helps business leaders engage employees to provide exceptional customer experience and achieve results.  Her mission: To improve the Canadian Customer experience, one company at a time.

Pam is passionate about making a difference in the community. She has participated in countless community programs, including rebuilding New Orleans twice and leading several community initiatives with the Hamilton Police Service.  

 


Director At Large - Ryan Santos

Ryan Santos holds a Honours Bachelors of Science Specialist Degree from the University of Toronto, Post-Graduate education in Human Resources from Sheridan and Algonquin College with a CHRP Designation and a PCP Designation from the Canadian Payroll Association.

Currently Ryan is a Human Resources Generalist & Health & Safety Environmental Manager at Neptune Technology Group, a leader in automated water meter reading equipment, supply and installation services across Canada. Prior to working at Neptune Technology Group, Ryan has had practical experience in payroll and Human Resources at the Generalist capacity.


Programs and Mentoring Director - Joanne Royce

Joanne Royce is founder of Royce & Associates. She provides Human Resources, Recruiting, and Training Solutions to organizations operating with or without an HR department. With over 20 years of Human Resources (HR) generalist and training experience in entrepreneurial and corporate environments, she develops best practice HR initiatives and implements them in a way that is practical and cost efficient. Joanne’s mission is creating happy, healthy, and productive workplaces that result in profitable organizations and people.

Joanne has a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree from Ryerson University. She is very proud to be a Belbin Team Roles Accredited assessor, facilitator and coach helping organizations build successful teams. Joanne is also a part-time contract professor for the highly acclaimed Human Resource Management Program at Sheridan College. She has facilitated workshops for the Ontario Management Development Program at Sheridan College and Tools for Business Program at Mohawk College.


  

Director at Large - Martha Brunning, CHRP

Martha has extensive HR leadership experience in the retail industry including A&P (now Metro), Commisso’s Food Markets and Sobeys. In 2008, Martha joined West 49 Inc., Canada’s leading action sports retailer, with 2000 employees working in 130 stores across the country and a Support Centre based in Burlington. As Senior Manager, Human Resources, Martha oversees a team of four HR staff and is responsible for employee relations, recruiting, training and development, communications and health & safety.

Martha was an active member of the Niagara Chapter until moving from St. Catharines to Burlington last year. Martha is looking forward to getting more involved in the Halton community and sees volunteering for the Board as a great way to do that while also getting to know her Halton HR colleagues. Martha's previous volunteer experience includes Volunteer Orientation and HR projects with World Wildlife Fund Canada.
