PRESIDENT

KATHRYN KITCHEN, CHRP

The President is responsible for running Board meetings and providing leadership for all activities of the Chapter consistent with the provincial association’s strategies, objectives and policies.  S/he is the principal liaison with HRPAO and is responsible for operating the Chapter effectively to meet the needs of the members, and to ensure conformance with Chapter and HRPA by-laws.

SECRETARY

LINDA DANCEY, CHRP

The Secretary works with the Board of Directors to ensure consistency in its ongoing dedication to the advancement of human resource management.  The Secretary functions primarily as the advisory to the Board of Directors and the current President.  S/he takes on special projects as assigned by the President or the Board of Directors.

The President-Elect's prime objective is to support the President in contributing to and implementing the strategic plan of the Chapter.  S/he is responsible for initiating and maintaining strategic alliances of benefit to the Association. S/he takes on special projects as assigned by the President or the Board.

 

FINANCE DIRECTOR

MARY-JO SHORTREED, CHRP

The Finance Director maintains the financial records and books of the Chapter, and is generally responsible for it's solvency.  S/he prepares the annual operating budget, and ensures the Chapter's Directors follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principles with respect to Chapter expenses and revenues. S/he ensures the books are annually audited by a Chartered Accountant and also manages contracts for bookkeeping and office rental/services.

The Director of Membership is responsible for the retention and recruitment of members, liaison with the membership to identify needs and priorities and, assessment of the satisfaction level with the current services and programs.  In conjunction with the Board of Directors, reviews the target market annually and develops appropriate strategies for contacting and attracting new members.

The Communications Director is responsible for publicity, public and media relations to enhance the profile of the Association. He/she is also responsible for all communications to the chapter membership and the development and maintenance of the Chapter website.

The Meetings Director is responsible for selecting and scheduling venues for the Chapter’s various events.  S/he is also responsible for coordinating registration at the event.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

The Professional Development portfolio's objective is to provide professional development seminars that are timely, educational and thought-provoking while supporting the CHRP designation for Chapter members.  This portfolio works closely with educational institutions, chapter members, and the HRPA, to market the advantages of chapter membership and to ensure these partnerships support member's educational objectives.

The Programs Director’s main objective is to ensure delivery of quality programming at our bi-monthly dinner meetings, at a reasonable cost to our membership.  He/she is responsible for identifying interesting speakers for the monthly meetings, selecting the venue and other logistical arrangements to ensure successful events in conjunction with the Meetings Director.

The Peer Networking Director is responsible for establishing Directors for each subject area and maintain their information and attendance throughout the year.  S/he must also establish a regular series of meetings for chapter members interested in the PNG’s subject area.  S/he should also promote sufficient PNG attendance to provide a useful variety of input and discussion.

The Student Director is responsible for liaising with students who are members or are interested in the practice of human resources.  The Director also communicates student issues back to the Board and develops strategies to promote student interest in membership.

 

The Student Director and Co-Director conduct Information Sessions on the HRPA and benefits of membership at local colleges and universities to raise awareness about the benefits of membership in the HRPA.

The Government Relations Director is responsible for liaising with the HRPAO Government Affairs Committee (federal and provincial).  The portfolio holder must ensure that the activities of the Government Affairs Committees are reported to the Chapter members and that the views of the membership concerning human resources legislation or policy initiatives are communicated back to the appropriate Government Affairs Committee.

The Director at Large is responsible for generally supporting the Mission of the Chapter, and to provide assistance to other Directors, support to Local Chapter activities, and to promote membership and the profession at all possible opportunities.   The Director should also promote volunteerism through assisting other Directors with specific portfolio activities and at Local Chapter events as needed.
