ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Christopher Chen is national director for executive compensation in Canada and is a member of Hay Group’s executive reward global leadership team. He advises clients on supporting stakeholder value through effectively aligning organizational strategy to executive compensation. He has worked extensively with private and public sector clients across Canada and its territories in the areas of corporate governance, compensation strategy, competitive benchmarking and incentive design. As a former lawyer and compensation director, he brings deep technical and industry expertise to his clients.
Christopher holds a bachelor of business administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and a bachelor of laws degree from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and has completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants’ in-depth tax course. He is a faculty member for The Directors’ College, a subject matter expert for the Institute of Corporate Directors, and is a frequent presenter and commentator on compensation issues at professional conferences, on national television and in print. Christopher has sat on the editorial advisory board of HR Professional magazine. He also sits on the board and the HR committee for the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care, and served on the board of Able Living-Enabling Independent Living.
Anand Parsan is a senior principal in Hay Group’s executive compensation practice. He has practised as an HR professional for over 15 years, both locally and internationally, and offers a combination of strategic and technical skills based on his many years of consulting and industry experience. Anand is a trusted advisor to board members and management. He is an expert in the design and implementation of corporate governance and compensation programs that support organizational strategy and objectives as well as shareholders’ interests. He is a subject matter expert in the development of incentive plans that are aligned with business intent and that support good governance practices. His extensive knowledge in using performance metrics in incentive design helps organizations strike the right balance between retention and performance while maintaining simplicity and “line of sight” for the plan participants and the board.
Anand graduated with distinction from the University of Toronto with a bachelor of commerce degree, specializing in finance and economics. He obtained his Global Professional of Human Resources designation from the Human Resource Certification Institute in Virginia. Anand has completed the Canadian Securities Institute’s CSC and CPH courses, and is a member of HRPA.
